Poor Meeko
Question: This morning I woke up to get ready for work and narrowly missed stepping into a pile of fresh cat spew. Cleaned that up. Turned on some lights, found bile and such in a few places. He was acting a little strange last night, like not so into the pets as normal, and when he came to sleep, he did just that, but not up on the pillow like normal. I couldn't get him to come out by calling this morning, so I had to shake a treat bag and he didn't even eat what I offered him. I'm thinking cause the barf was pretty fresh, maybe he wasn't in the mood to eat. And yesterday he had some runny dark poops. Hopefully it's nothing serious. I'll have to keep an eye on him. I am not worried so much about the puke because that happens when he runs around like an idiot and gets so hot he starts panting and what not after he's eaten. Happens ever couple of months and there was less puke than usual this morning...so that's something. I just can't imagine what he ate that would give him such a runny poop. It was smelly and darker than his normal movements. I know he still had a case of it this morning because I found little clumps of liquid poop and litter around the litter box. Hmm. Answer: Aww, sure hope he feels better soon! Answer: I hope the little guy feels better real soon too. Please let us know. Answer: Poor Meeko! I hope he feels better in no time! Has anything changed in his world? His food is still the same? Answer: Thanks guys! I think they both had a bit of a cold to be honest, and seem to be getting over it. The day I posted that about Meeko, I was sitting at the computer after work, eating lunch when I smelled poop. I look down and Pickles is scooting her dirty butt on my floors. Gah. So, I run to the bathroom, get some TP and clean her up. It made her mad but from the look of the floors she scooted her dirty arse around a few times. Figured we were out of the woods yesterday, only to find that one of them had cleaned their dirty butt on BOTH my pillows on the futon. Nothing has changed diet wise. I can only think that perhaps the weather has given them a bit of a cold. No coughing or sneezing, I am pleased to report. I gave them each a shot of Keyo (as per SPCA/both vet's advice...although one vet suggested Keyo and baby gravol but I didn't think we were to that point yet). I'm going to keep an eye on them in the next few days. On a positive note, when I cleaned the litter box there seemed to be whole poops in there not squishy puddles. So that's good. Answer: Sounds like they are improving.. that's good. Answer: *Groans*Meeko puked again yesterday. It's really hot in my apt. It was 30 degree's Celcius (86F) despite having the two fans on. I think he is also having hairball issues. So I am going to see if I can't borrow my friends car (I sold mine, it's driving me crazy, I can't wait to have another one) and go to Wally World and pick up some of that hairball stuff and maybe some cat grass. If that doesn't help, the Actrium (which they're doing well on) has a hairball formula, I'll start them on that if we can't cut out the pukeage. Meeko just has this bad habit of acting like an idiot when it's too hot. He wants to play and he gets too hot, and pukes. A lot. I know it isn't Pickles because since I got her fixed shes' been rather lazy and will sit in her window to stay cool. I guess sitting in his own window is too boring for Meeko. He got sick right in front of me yesterday. I was standing in the kitchen when I heard this weird sound and I thought it was coming from outside, so I was standing at the window trying to figure it out. I happened to look down at Meeko who was sitting beside me and he was spewing up...water? Bile? It was clear, didn't have a strong smell. So I turned on the shower in the bathroom to cold and let it run to cool the apartment down (tis the only way unfortunately cause the windows are too small for an air conditioner). He seemed okay after that. BUT last night around 10:30 or 11 he started to hack, swallow, hack, swallow. Nothing came up but I am guessing hairball. Both cats are hairy and they shed a fair bit. *Sighs*I hope I don't come home to more puke today. Poor lil' guy. Answer: I think my cat Wiley is having the same problem. The last time I thought he had hairballs b/c he was puking up bile (but no hairballs), I gave him some TonicLax and he choked, his tongue turned blue & he fell over.. I rushed him to Emerg but he was ok by the time we got there (that cost me over $100).. that was a couple years ago. Now I'm so paranoid about giving him that, even though he's started vomiting bile again.. Answer: *Blinks* I gave some to both cats yesterday and they don't seem any worse for wear. Actually, they both really liked the taste of the hairball stuff. Meeko was licking his paw for a good 30 minutes. Both of them were kinda dumb and couldn't figure out where I put the good. Pickles got it all over the place when she shook her paw. Live and learn, I'll have to work it into her furr a bit. She's such a fussbag. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
