Looking for some help/advice...

Question:
Here is my problem. I have a strictly indoor kitty, and had two other kitties that adopted me that stayed in the garage and outdoors for a few years. One of them, Mr Orange Kitty, passed away a few months ago, as some might remember, so I have been trying to get my other outdoor kitty, Ms Brown Kitty, inside, first at night, now some during the day too, She has been very good and her and my indoor kitty, Barney, have been ok, no fights yet. Earlier this week, Barney, indoor kitty, started sneezing and eyes watering, so I went to the vet, and he is now on antibiotics for the infection. He is eating fine, and drinking his water fine, but he hasnt moved his bowels in almost 2 days, which is unusual, and I dont think he has even peed in almost the same time. Ms brown Kitty has been using his pan, even tho I have one for her too, but she uses both. Does anyone think he is not going to the bathroom because of her using the litter boxes? I am going to see how he is over the weekend, but i am going to the vet Monday if he isnt doing better. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.

Answer:
I think it's a strong possibility..
Is Ms Brown Kitty vaccinated? If not, definately get her checked out at the Vet.. she could have passed the URI to Barney.
Since he is still eating & drinking normally, I'd think if Barney doesn't poop by tomorrow I'd be calling the Vet.. If he's blocked you don't want to wait much longer..
My friend's cat was blocked and she waited too long and it ended up costing her thousands of dollars & the cat had to have part of his bowels removed.. Better safe then sorry. (& broke!)

Answer:
Thanks for the advice. Yes, she is up to date on all her shots. Ever since she came around I have had her tested and annual shots and all. Barney is up to date on all his shots too, actually he was just done a few weeks ago. I am going to call the vet tomorrow if nothing happens over night and see what he thinks.

Answer:
That's a good plan.. Let me know what happens!

Answer:
I wanted to let all my new friends know that my Barney just got done pooping...I know that sounds silly...but I was glad to hear him scratching that litter box. I am still going to call vet tomorrow to see if medicine he is on could cause irregular bathroom visits for him, but at least I am a little less worried now. Thanks everyone

Answer:
I'm sorry - I was so caught up with my own posts that I missed yours. I'm so glad to hear Barney did his poops! Don't worry about sounding silly. We've all been there - either doing a happy dance cos there are poops or examining its consistency and cheering when it's firm again

Answer:
It's amazing how much we stress about our animals in this way After all, most of the time it's nothing serious, but it can be terribly stressful when we imagine all the bad things that could be causing whatever the problem is!
I am glad to hear your Barney has done his poo!

Answer:
yeah, barney!

Answer:
Thank you everyone for your support. Barney seems better today, but I am still keeping an eye on him. I always especially worry about him because he has a bowel desease that is not curable, it can only be medicated daily with a small steroid dosage for the rest of his life to keep it from flaring up. That's a whole other story. But anyways, whenever his routine changes, I worry. Thanks again everyone. I will keep you posted.

Answer:
That's what we're here for - to cheer or cry with and for each other as necessary. I'm glad Barney is doing well.
