I dont know if anyone else has had this problem...but my sister aparently has a bad problem with her 2 cats and fleas. She gave them both flea baths and that didn't work so then she bombed her apartment with some type of flea insectacide type thing, and shaved her cats and then gave them baths again. I guess the fleas were still really bad so she put another flea bomb in her apartment. I keep on telling her she needs to call a professional exterminator and bring her cats to the vet...but she is a college student and says she cant afford it.

I am just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what you did about it.

She needs to get a product such as Advantage from the Vet. Shampoos, flea collars and other products bought from pet stores rarely work effectively.. especially if the infestation is severe. The whole apartment should be treated by an exterminator as well.
Maybe she could borrow the money from someone?

I second that. Using something like Advantage or Frontline is the best way to start. She should wait at least 24-48 hours after bathing before applying the topical flea meds and caution her to stay away from the ones sold in grocery stores or Wal-mart like Hartz and Biospot. They don't work nearly as well and some people have reported their animals suffering from adverse reactions to the products.

well I agree that she should have been using something like that on them.....I use Revolution (from my vet) on my kitty it seems to have worked good so far. My sister probably shouldnt even have animals right now....cause she dont really put out the money to properly care for them. I would take her 2 cats...they are beautiful Himalayan mix (with siames type coloring), but I dont have the room right now since my apartment is so small.

Oh well...I guess she will have to figure it out herself. Thanks for your replies
