HELP. Jack died and I can't get him out of his cage
Question: Hello everyone, it's been quite some time since I last posted. It is with a heavy heart that I post that my beloved Jackie died. I can't get him out of his cage for a proper burial. He lived in a 3 tier cage and has himself positioned on the left side of his cage just so, that I can't get a good hold of him to get him out. I've tried a few different things but I just can't seem to get him comfortably. Does anyone have any advice? Anything at all? Thank you.... Answer: I'm very sorry. Is there anyway that you could take the cage apart? Or can you bend the wire? Answer: Can you shake the cage a little bit to get his body to move? Or maybe use tongs to try and grab him? So sorry about your chinnie, it's so hard when you lose one of them...Good Luck... Answer: Thank you for the ideas , while I'm not sure I can take the cage apart...I was kinda thinking along the lines of trying to roll Jack, but thought it seemed kinda morbid. However, since other people think that might work, its worth a shot, besides he deserves a proper burial. He gave me pleasure during his short life. Thanks again, Answer: Sorry for your loss... Did you get him out yet? Answer: I don't think shaking the cage to get him out is morbid, I would feel worse about leaving him in there and not giving him a honorable burial... Did you find a way to get him out yet? Answer: Yes, we were able to get him out of the cage. A good friend of mine helped us out. We didn't have to roll the cage. Perhaps, it was more of a mental thing with me..being bonded to Jack. But the good new is that he is out of the cage. Unfortunately, there is about 7 inches of snow on the ground right now, so I will have to wait until the spring to bury him, so the ground thaws. But I have a freezer I can keep him in until then. Thank you again for your ideas and concern over my little boo-boo, Answer: I understand how you feel totally, my hamster Charlie passed away in December, and he's still in a box in our freezer, I feel bad because I don't think he'll be totally at peace until he's put back into the earth.
