Spoonfeeding & Dependence

Question:
Cub is eating a diet of mush & fruit currently, all handfed by spoon. She is eating well but I have to wonder if she will ever go back to the hard food (pellets). Will sh eget dependent on eating mush forever? I don't mind spoonfeeding her, but I am worried about overgrowth of her normal teeth due to lack of hard chewing. I am going to put cranberry juice on her chew toy & get more apple branches, but I am still concerned. Thanks. BTW I called DR Benoit to ask about this yesterday but he was in surgery.

Answer:
I think you should be able to wean her off mush and back onto hard pellets, I don't have any experience to share but I'm sure there are lots of people here who do

Answer:
Neuro,
I just wanted to say I'm wishing you and Cub the best of luck!! Stay strong!!

Answer:
Well Silly had this operation, I call it Silly's Syndrome, long story but what I have to do for him is crush his pellets in a blender. If not he chokes but I did call 3 vets and they said this is okay. As long as he has other stuff to chew on. Im not sure if this would be the same thing as the mush though.

Answer:
So Silly eats crushed pellets permanently? I worry that Cub is getting spoiled now by being spoonfed, that she won't want to go back. I am feeding her solid treats & she will eat them now that the antibiotics are making her mouth less painful but she will not eat her soild pellets, only the mush.

Answer:
Yes, he's on it permanently. But I am having a lot of problems with him. He's just not well and Im taking him into the vets next week. He's just loosing too much weight. Hmm, maybe just give her a bit of time to heal up more. It's a great sign that she is eating treats. Maybe it still hurst a bit too much for her to eat the pellets. I hope she starts eating them soon. Your doing a great job with her.
