Swamp Coolers
Question: If you can't afford an air conditioner, this is the next best thing for your chins. It basically blows cool vapor through a fan, creating a temperature drop of about 6 degrees Celsius. It saved Cub's life last summer, which was extemely hot around here. Mine is called the Kool Zone & I got it @ Canadian Tire for $165. It is very reasonable on electricity but small. I jsut sit it next to Cub's cage & she comes over & sits next to it to catch the breeze. Honestly I really want an air conditioner (for me as well as Cub) but $165 to keep a chin alive during these #$%&*@!! hot summers is a small price for me. Answer: Where we live here in Nevada, there are very few air conditioners on the houses. Most everyone has a huge swamp cooler on top of their house. It is not as good as central air conditioning. It creates a lot of humudity because of the water it uses to create the cold air. It makes everything a little damper. I should purchase a dehumidifier for the summer, but haven't yet. My husband keeps talking about converting to central air, hopefully we will be. Answer: well this summer we live in a basement apartment so 'm hoping that it won't get very hot down here,,,,my landlords said it doesn't,,so i'm crossing my fingers,,not only for me and the pets to but theres nothing worse than seeing a baby sweating so bad in their sleep ,,,how do chins act if they are getting over heated? Answer: Overheated chins will "flop" & act very lethargic. They can actually die from the heat. Answer: Overheated chins will "flop" & act very lethargic. They can actually die from the heat. Answer: The only problem with swamp coolers is that they add a lot of moisture to the air and that tends to promote fungus problems. Air conditioners take moisture out of the air. Answer: Yeah, I don't think that a swamp cooler would be good for me because I live in a basement and there is way to much moisture to start with (we use a dehumidifier to make it livable.) Answer: Cub has not had fungus & I am sure she would be dead after last summer if I hadn't bought her a swamp cooler. I can't afford an air conditioner. Answer: too bad they didnt make a swamp cooler with a dehumidifier to it.. lol Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
