clay pots to stay cool

Question:
okay Denise.. I copied this from the other thread.. so I wouldnt go "off topic" there.. hehe
Pam, yes, regular clay pots. I bought large ones at our local grocery store for $1.99 each. I put water on them and freeze them for about an hour. The chinnies go nuts over them! I know it feels really good on their bodies.
I went to menards today and bought some ceramic pots.. do those work also??? can you do the same thing with them?? I felt the inside and they seemed like something that would stay cool.. could I do the same with those as you do with the clay pots?? put water on them and freeze them?? I guess I wont use them just yet.. (not like I need to since its still only 59) just in case those are the wrong kind.

Answer:
I froze my pots the other day (dropped one and broke it in the process ) and they didn't stay cold for very long.
I wonder what I'm doing wrong?

Answer:
did you wet them first Lisa?

Answer:
Pam, I prefer terra cotta pots because they retain the cold better than ceramic (JMO of course).

Answer:
Yes, I ran them under cold water and then stuck them directly in the freezer

Answer:
okay Im going to go look for some terra cotta pots then. I seen these and jumped on them then came home and realized that your post wasnt for ceramic.. lol

Answer:
they sell terra cotta pots at the dollar store

Answer:
Lisa, I can't figure out why they aren't staying cold. How long would you say they stay cold?

Answer:
Denise, probably about 10 minutes

Answer:
Lisa, mine stay cold for around 30 minutes (okay I guess it isn't that long). Still, 10 minutes isn't that long. I can't figure it out....
