Back breeding
Question: OKay I have no clue if I have this right or not but i think I do,,,,as soon as a chinchilla has her babies,,,the male can jump her again,,correct??? thats why i hear people saying that they did or didn't get the dad out in time,,,,now I have heard some people say that they let theirs back breed ,,so my question is,,,,,,,is back breeding a good thing??? or is a bad thing???? Answer: I don't like breedbacks personally, but they do happen sometimes. I think if the female is super healthy, then there is nothing to worry about, but some females need time to recouperate after each litter. I personally try to avoid them if I can, and so far I have been pretty lucky with that, but the occasional girl will surprise me with a litter, and by then it is usually too late and she is pregnant again. Answer: so its the same as me,,,lol,,,I feel like I was back bred,,,,Dakin was only 2 mths old when I found out I was pregnant again with corbin and the doctors told me not to do that again because my babies are to big and they sleep on my bladder and my babes come to fast and I guess thats hard on a female,,,,,,so if I back bred again my bladder could erupt and I had alot more pain with corbin because I never gave myself time to heal after having Dakin,,lol,,, Answer: Yes, the male could very well successfully mate with the female after she has given birth. Some breeders take the male out of the cage and others don't. When I was breeding I took the female out for 10 days to ensure she wouldn't get pregnant. Backbreeding can and does happen. It isn't necessarily a bad thing but you don't want the female to have too many instances of this. I think it is okay for a female to backbreed at least once a year. Pet breeders usually give mums at least 6 months before they put her into breeding again. Ranchers, on the other hand, do things differently but I don't know the details of how often they allow their females to backbreed or what they do with the male. Answer: Yes, backbreeding is when the female gets pregnant again 24-48 hours after giving birth. The female goes into heat shortly after after giving birth and obviously the male can get her pregnant again. There seem to be two ways people look at it: 1) It is bad. Backbreeding is undesirable to let the female get pregnant right away as it causes too much stress and strain on the mom. Many pet owners think this. 2) It is a natural thing. The female would not get pregnant again if she didn't want to/couldn't handle it. I have heard several ranchers say this. I am sure ranchers give their females a break if they need it as they only want the best for their animals. I think a lot of it is common sense and that the occasional breedback isn't harmful. It is sometimes very hard to gauge a female's pregnancy and be there for her birth so if the male is present, it could definitely happen. I am sure you will get a lot of opinions on this one, Brandy! Answer: i don't think my female is ready to be a mom yet because every once in a while she;l get kind of cranky,,and i assumed she was going into heat because Diego goes crazy trying to get her and theres no way she lets him near her,,,last night she was eating and he snuck up behind her,,well she turned aorund and barked at him so fast he jumped off the shelf and went in the house,,,it was so funny,,I wonder whose the boss?????? Answer: Yes, backbreeding is when the female gets pregnant again 24-48 hours after giving birth. is it posible for that to hapen befor that 24hr like in 1-5hr after baby is born? Answer: A male can get the female pregnant immediatally after she has given birth. Answer: would that be realted to her refuseing her baby she has now? Answer: Originally Posted by chinchilla_connection would that be realted to her refuseing her baby she has now? You mean with my chin that had the baby yesterday? She's not refusing the baby, he is nursing from her as I type this, he just seems to lose interest and wander off, and she has to go and chase him down to feed him.
