Question:
Now Ophelia has added Romeo to her hit list! How could she!?!? They've gotten along fine until now, they even had a litter together, but she just took a chunk out of him just below his left ear. I cuddled him and moved him back in with Juliet (I guess 5 months is enough of a maternity leave), and they looked so happy to be together again, star-crossed lovers that they are.
Honestly, as much as I love my chins as pets, I'm not at the place in life where I can afford to keep them if they are not helping to pay their own way. I think the only thing to do is sell Ophelia. I will keep her if I can't find an excellent, loving home, but if I can find that perfect home it would be better for her. I guess I'm off to post in the animals for sale section.

Poor Romeo, but I'm sure he will be okay! Maybe Ophelia is in heat and that's why she is acting that way.

That's a very likely possibility too Laurie! How long have they been together Kristine? I wouldn't be too hasty in selling her if I was you Kristine. She just might be pregnant. It wouldn't be the first time a female has turned nasty when pregnant. In fact that happens quite often.

I would also suspect that she's pregnant. Hazel also attacked her mate when she was prego.

I have 2 girls that do that when they are pregnant, and if they are close enough to another cage, they will constantly try to bite the other chins through the bars, so I have to keep them well enough away from others. It's the hormone thing

I don't know if she is pregnant. She has been with Romeo since Juliet had her last litter, so, 5 months. It's a possiblilty, though I never found a mating plug. And I only just bought a gram scale, so I haven't been tracking her weight. I guess I could give her a little time and find out. How much weight do chins usually gain during pregnancy, and how quickly?
I just figured she had a nasty streak because of her recent attack on little Juliet as well.
