Griffin is keeping me busy
Question: I can't wait to post a picture of this little buggar so you can see exactly who I am talking about. Griffin is going to turn 5 months old on August 16th and he is keeping his mum on her toes. He LOVES rolling in the bedding, especially in the corner where he and Baxter urinate! I had to put something in the corner to prevent him from rolling there. He still rolls but at least it isn't in a soiled part of the cage. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a lot of pellet on the shelf where the food bowl is situated. I was in the kitchen and heard the sound of someone sifting the pellet in their food bowl. I walked in the bedroom and saw Griffin picking up each pellet and literally throwing it! I tried to salvage as much of the pellet as possible and put it back in the bowl. Today, when I came home from work, there was pellet all over the bedroom floor! I looked in the cage and sure enough there was pellet on the shelf. Then, I lifted up the clay pot that they sometimes use as a potty and what did I find? A TON of pellet! I have narrowed down the problem to the supplement. He sifts through the pellet in hopes of finding more supplement and when he doesn't find any, he throws the pellet. It looks like I will have to cut down on the amount of supplement so he gets used to eating the pellet without it. He is evidently going through a rebellious stage in his life because Noel did the same thing at his age. Answer: Denise, Phoebe does EXACTLY the same thing with her pellets - isn't it SO annoying?????? Freddy loves to roll in the shavings too - they're always hanging off of him I can't wait to see a picture Sounds to me like he's a bit of a turd at the moment, but super loveable all the same Answer: lol Denise.. sounds like he is being a little turd!!! hehehehe.. I think he knows he can get away with it.. and there will still be more food in the bowl for him next time.. lol... but youll show him!! lol Answer: Lisa, it is annoying! I spend good money on a high quality pellet and I don't like it being wasted. I will find stray pellets on the shelves of the other cages but nothing like what Griffin is doing. What I did was put the bowl up higher so it is harder for him to sift through it and throw the pellets. Answer: Chins like to keep us on our toes don't they Sounds like you have a little monster on your hand But hey we can never get mad at them can we Answer: You might look at a totally separate bowl for the supplement, Denise. These work well, or a small bowl does. http://www.chinchillas.com/estore/detail.aspx?ID=35 Good luck with that little booger, I can't wait to see him! Answer: Thanks Steph. Since I raised the food bowl, I didn't see any food on the shelf. Either that or I threatened he would become a fur mitten if he didn't stop it. Answer: Griffin is hilarious!! Throwing pellets & rolling in pee, eh? What a character!!! Answer: Character is one way of describing hiim. I think butthead is also appropriate in this case. He certainly takes after his dad; fur dad that is. Answer: lol arent kids the biggest pain in the butt??? hehe.. ever since Gypsy was born.. she has been a brat!!! lol maybe when our kids get old enough you could do a "stud service" with your little butthead with my little brat!!! HEHEHEHEHEHEHE (of course Im just kidding!!!! lol) Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
