cage size
Question: I don't have a chinchilla cage yet, but the breeder is trying to sell me a 2'x2'x2' cage for 70 bucks. Is this cage too small for two chins. What about a cage that is 24"x36"x17" high. What are your thoughts? I've seen some great cages on this site and I'd like to find a perfect cage for two chins, but not for more than 150. Is that unreasonable? Any advise would be helpful. Thanks Eric Answer: Personally, I think that 2X2X2 is too small for two chins. What I would suggest is buy the largest cage that you can for $150. The second cage is 17" high? I would think that my two boys wouldn't be very happy in a cage that low. They like to climb to the very top of their cage. Basically, the bigger the cage, the better, IMHO. BTW, Welcome to the forum Eric. Answer: I agree with Candice, the bigger the better. However, if you have to choose between length or height, get height. Chins are great jumpers and are happiest leaping between levels. Answer: What about a cage that is 24"x18"x36? Eric Answer: That sounds like a decent size cage. Answer: That sounds like the dimensions of my cage Eric. Are those dimensions for an extra large bunny cage? I have more length than height to my cage and the chinnies do just fine. I added ledges half way up the cage and they are very happy with them. However, I also provide lots of exercise out of the cage whenever possible to balance things out Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
