linus :(

Question:
well..........linus eye is getting worse and so I took her back to the vet today and he doesn't have a clue what is happening.........
the eye is red and inflammed and very swollen now (happened over the last 2 days)and there is a white thick discharge(we already tried antibiotic ointment. he can't see any damage to the lens or cornea and nothing is in the eye????????? it is very frustrating. He has now send pics to an opthamologist in california who specializes in animal eyes. The teeth look fine as well....................if this isn't solved she will need to be put down as I can see she is suffering now...........she hardly eats or moves around anymore.............tough choices to make...........

Answer:
Oh Heidi, I am so sorry to hear about this! I was wondering how her eye was doing and I didn't expect to read this. Gosh, I wonder what it is that is causing her to be so sick? I have never heard of a chin's eye affecting them so much they can not eat. If it is an infection I wonder what type of infection? I hope the opthamologist can provide more insight and offer a way to help her so you don't have to put her to sleep. My thoughts are with you and Linus.

Answer:
Awww Heidi I'm so sorry to hear about linus. Hopefully the ophtalmologist can figure something out for her. Me and the girls will be thinking about linus. Please let us know what happens!!!

Answer:
Stupid question..but has the vet checked for specks of dust or hay behind the eyelid? It sounds like something is in there bothering her. I know it's hard to check on a squirmy chin who doesn't want a sore eye touched, but it's worth trying to find out.

Answer:
Heidi, I'm sorry to hear about Linus Cracker's eye has been acting up recently, but nowhere as bad as Linus's eye!!
Keep us posted.

Answer:

Answer:
yes her eye got a real good check inside and out under anasthetic and it is fine............just heard from the vet and it sounds like her teeth are the root *no pun intended* of the problem...........i am going to take her to surrey to a vet there who deals with chins and teeth on monday...my son is already crying over the fact that we may loose her............if there is a problem with the teeth (which is very painful) then she will be put to sleep...........after she has had a big bowl of raisins (all she can eat ) i will keep you posted...............right now her eye is completely shut swollen...............if we do loose her i have promised my son another little linus.........perhaps lisa wants to let one of her little babies go when they are ready?

Answer:
there's always the little girl at the Coquitlam SPCA too Heidi

Answer:
grr ok this is the end of the post:
...although I hope it doesn't come down to you looking for another chinnie.
I must have hit a button or something while I was typing and the board won't let me edit my post lol

Answer:
i already have 2 from the spca............sally and peppermint patty.............linus is very loving, affectionate, loves to get scratches and NEVER bites..............i had her from a little baby................the 2 girls from the spca are different. I do not know how old they are or how they have been treated in the past.........they are not as affectionate ( but we still ove them to peices...dont get me wrong.......) and who knows how they have been treated...peppers was nenver handled by her former owner and thus very hard ( but getting easier) to catch and hates being held.........sally is miss grumpy...........i would love another chin like linus and to get them that way I think one should get them from babies........she is a very different little chinchilla that linus.........she lovesssssssssssssss to be held and scrathes..........so my next little chin will be another little baby........
