Splurge

Question:
Well I'm probably setting myself up for ridicule here, but today I went to the local natural pet store & purchased Innova dry food & California Natural (fish, venison flavours) & Innova canned food for Hank. http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=home-tab I don't care if there are people on here that think I am stupid for doing this. I believe that this is excellent food.
I know of @ least one other person on here who has experience with these brands. THAT I am interested in.
Hank likes everything so far.

Answer:
Huh, did I miss something?? Why would anyone think you were stupid for buying this food?
I have used Natura products canned and dry on and off for about 2yrs now and have always been very pleased with their products. I also beleive they are excellent foods and have had nothing but great results with them.

Answer:
Yes, you did miss something opokki.
Neuro, would someone be setting themself up for ridicule if they came on here to post about how they found a great grocery store pet food...maybe, but definitely if you saw the thread. There is never any need to ridicule anyone and I am positive that many of the people in the "Why Bother?" thread felt as if you were doing just that. It doesn't surprise me that you got exactly what you gave. There is no need to be sarcastic or take cheap shots so I suggest that you just drop it. If you still have issues with people take them up somewhere else...and that goes for anyone else who wants to "discuss" the above mentioned thread.
Now, about Innova. As you probably already know, I have nothing but positive reviews. My IBS cat adjusted very well to the Innova...especially considering that he boycotted his other food in favor of Innova so it was more of an abrupt switch (on his part, not mine). I have also used the canned food. The cats liked it and I liked the fact that it had distinguishable pieces of carrots, etc. However, as some of you may know, I mix the cats' wet food with water to help keep Syd's bladder free of infection. I usually only use 1 can a week and I found that the Innova was quite rubbery to begin with, let alone leaving it in the fridge for a week. I am using Precise now which is really soft and works better. I am going to The Barking Lot tomorrow though.

Answer:
We bought a bag of California Natural for our new cat, Tonks, because that's what they were feeding her before. We put out 5 bowls of Nutrience and a bowl of Cali. Nat. for Tonks. The other 5 cats won't go near the Cali. Nat at all, and even Tonks is starting to eat more of the Nutrience than the Cali. Nat. So that's it for that brand for my cats. $40/bag is just too much if they're not even going to touch it. I hope Hank likes it though. Good luck!

Answer:
Thanks. Hank likes it less than Precise, but since Precise is getting hard to find around here I think I am switching to Cali Nat. & Innova for good.
Candice, yes I would have disdain for someone raving about a new food full of by-products & artificial ingredients. I don't think I deserve the same for going after the best food on the market. I don't understand how someone can't see the difference......

Answer:
Actually, it's probably not the best food on the market, but pretty close. The best way to make people see the "difference" is to educate, not criticize.
I'm surprised that Hank doesn't like it as much as Precise. My cats went crazy for it but didn't really like the dry Precise sample I got.

Answer:
Wysong is the absolute best, IMHO, but as critical as I am I cannot find anything wrong with Innova/Cali. Nat. What would you say to that CC?
Hank is not as big on Precise dry as Precise wet. She loves the Innova dry so much that she tore the bag open & was eating from it like a trough last night!!! But she's still liking the Precise wet better than the Cali. nat. wet. Nonetheless, I think it's important to try to get her eating as many GOOD brands as possible in case Precise becomes even harder to get around here. She loves Precise because she's been on it since she was a baby.
Have you fed your cats the venison & rice Cali. Nat.? Hank is eating the fish formula right now.

Answer:
Ah, ok. My cats like the Precise wet better than the Innova wet as well. The one thing that I do not like about Innova is the chicken meal...which you already know. I would rather have real chicken instead. Nature's Variety is my favorite right now. Wysong is good too but it made Max really sick (not sure if you remember that or not). I have never fed California Natural...are you feeding dry or wet?

Answer:
Cali. Nat. wet, Innova dry.
Geez, Max got sick on WYSONG??? I have found that it is great for most cats.....
RE chicken meal, I think I mentioned it before, but all that means is chicken with the water removed. It is a *great* ingredient!!

Answer:
He was vomitting almost immediately. I thought that maybe he ate too fast so I tried giving it to him again and the same thing happened.
Chicken meal is a satisfactory ingredient...but in a perfect world, I would still rather have chicken. Call me picky if you want.
