Livvies poochie belly!!
Question: Livvie has about another 3 weeks to go before she has her babies... I cant wait. she is getting bigger everyday. she gained 30 grams in 2 days.. Im sure that as she gets further along she will gain more daily.. lol poor girl she can hardly get comfy now.. I could imagine the poor girl when she gets closer.. the cool thing is that unlike Isabella I can hold her.. so I will give her a treat and pet her belly.. she loves it.. and I can feel the babies (or baby.. not sure.. but I think there is possibly more than one) they arent realy kicking yet.. but moving around in there.. Im getting excited.. I hold her everyday.. and sometimes 2 times a day. Im sure that she doesnt know whats going on... lol since its her first litter.. now just a few questions.... *when should I take her out so shes not with Charlie? (I will keep checking her to make sure she isnt open yet) *what should I expect? (I know that I have had a baby born before ... but that was unexpected) *should I let Charlie out to play with Livvie supervised after she has the babies so that he can get used to them.. and so that the re-introduction will be easier? *any other advice will be apreciated I checked the chin cross calculator and the results are that the major percentage will be tans (different variations of it) Answer: Tans! Yeay! I wouldn't worry too much about the coming kits. Let Mother Nature do her job. Most of the time things go very smoothly. I would take Charlie out now (at least a week before delivery) if you want to give mom some rest and prevent breedback. She is only in heat for a max of 48-72 hours after delivery so after that, that risk is pretty much eliminated. As far as letting them play together, I don't see any problems as chinny dads are wonderful, attentive, and caring. Just watch carefullyt that mom didn't overnight develop a protectiveness complex and get nasty, lol. Good luck! Answer: if she will only be in heat for up to 72 hours then why do people suggest keeping them apart for 10 days?? her due date is sept 14th. so I guess I was a little ahead of my self in my first post. lol I hope she doesnt get too overly protective.. lol Im going to have so many cages that only have one chin in them.. hehe. thanks for the advice!! Answer: Congrats and good luck with the coming arrival. I hope the babies are born on Sept 14th...that my ravens 1st birthday We just had our first litter almost 6 weeks ago and after 2 days, we let the father Roo play with the kits and Sydney (the mother). They were closely supervised and Roo was fabulous with the kits...he is usually very aggressive toward other chins but took great care of his kids especially when sydney wanted a break. Being nervous first time parents we actually separated Sydney from Roo 2 weeks before her due date...the two love birds went on a hunger strike so we had to let them stay together during the day and then separate them at night....I was really surprised how close to syd's due date she actually delivered...she was only 1 day early! good luck and I can't wait to hear about the babies. Answer: Thanks Amanda. I cant wait too.. Im hoping that Charlie is going to be a good dad too. I love picking her up and petting her belly and feeling the babies move. its just the coolest thing... I need to take some pictures of her belly.. hehe Answer: i didn't even realize she was preggers so CONGRATS! Answer: thanks Sophie.. yup.. I was sitting here online one night.. and all of a sudden Charlie had the hiccups... hehe it was soooo cute to hear him.. and he looked so pathetic from the hiccups.. so as soon as I stopped laughing so hard I wrote the date down in my calendar.. now that I can feel the babies I am getting more and more anxious.. I think Im going to keep the vets number handy just in case anything goes wrong. Im sure it will be fine. but especially if its only going to cost me 10.00 total just to have her checked out that will be fine by me... doesnt hurt to take the extra precaution. Andy was telling me..(his friends kids want a chinchilla.. cause they liked Gracie.. they keep asking if Gracie has had babies yet) that he seen his friend and the kids were asking about babies. and Andy told him that I have one chinchilla about to have babies.. but it would be up to me to what happens with them. and said that if Livvie only has one that I might want to keep it since Livvie is my baby!! I think my jaw dropped to the floor.. cause when I had 2 chinchillas he didnt want me to get anymore at all.. lol and would get even more mad every time I brought another one home.. not that I wouldnt have kept one anyway... he would have gotten over the fact that I had one more chinchilla..
