Help! My cat smells bad!
Question: Maddie in her decrepitude has apparently stopped bathing and she smells terrible. Can anyone recommend some sort of "dry cleaner" I could use to freshen her up? She absolutely HATES getting a bath - she panics and climbs me, using all her claws. I think it would be too hard on her at this age. I'm thinking of trying just washing her off with a warm damp washcloth, but don't know if that will do much for the odor... Any suggestions? Answer: You can purchase dry shampoos..I've never used them personally..so I don't know how well they work Answer: They have bathing cloths at the pet store too. I think they are kind of like Wet-Naps for cats. Answer: I was going to say the wet naps...you could also try unscented baby wipes... the last 2 weeks before Ladybug had her kittens she was waaay to round to clean her bottom so we had to clean it for her, when we ran out of the baby wipes we used a wet warm washclothe with a dot of soap then cleaned again with a non soapy rag. Answer: I'm glad my cat could clean herself even when she was huge,,,,she was cleaning herself as she was giving birth I couldnt handle that ,,,I dont like smells and gag and go on like I'm looney then Craig has to deal with the mess and/or the smell or i puke everywheres Answer: Thanks for these suggestions! Answer: Another idea: add chlorophyll drops to her water, or switch to a cat food containing yucca (which I acknowledge might be hard @ her age, but it really helps). Answer: She is really picky about her water - I don' think she'd drink it if it had something added. She needs fresh clean water several times a day, she doesn't like it if it has dust or a hair in it. Answer: Usually when a cat stops grooming it can be a sign of something else. It might be sick. Does it hide? Have you seen the cat drink water? Does the cat sleep more then usuall? I have 4 cats , the oldest is 10yrs. Are any of the lympnodes swallon? Just something to think about.
