Bachelor cage
Question: My memory is probably proving me wrong here but isn't there someone on this forum that has more than two males in one cage? Or is it another forum? I know the odds of putting two males in with one female is a HUGE no-no but does anyone know or heard of three males getting along in one cage? Answer: I was going to put Pasito in with the boys once I got him. I don't really see a problem with it as long as no one is getting picked on. I wonder if the introductions would be easier because there is more distraction? Answer: Kate used to have an all boys cage Answer: Kate, meaning Shada? Answer: I think so, didn't she have 5 boys living together? Answer: it's shada Answer: Denise, when I had all my chins I had 3 cages with more than 1 male in it and had females in the same room, they never fought, well once in awhile they had their little fights but nothing serious Answer: I think Laurie still has that cage full of bachelors. Denise, maybe you could PM her and ask her to reply to this thread? Answer: I have two males in a cage right now, but they're father and son so it may make a bit of a difference. I have heard of successful male-male pairings though! Well gee, if I'd bothered to really read Denise's post, I'd have seen that she was asking about more than two males. Oops! Answer: When Saltine and Pepper arrived they were in their own cage (female/male). Then she went into heat and rejected Pepper--since quarantine had one more day I let her "visit" Wingnut as she was clearly "interested" in him. That being said, I expect a baby mid-October. After more civilized introductions, I realized that all three were getting along incredibly well. As odd as it seems, I have the three of them together still. Saltine is the more dominant, and the other two, both males, are quite submissive. She definitely rules her roost! Although I would not recommend this in general, it has worked. I do have a cage that I will be moving her into alone quite soon, and after that intend to just keep the two males together until both Saltine and I are ready for Wingnut to move in more permanently with her. Then Pepper will hopefully become buddies with my other two males. We shall see... Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
