Welcome to www.tendlife.com !!!

*sniff* I feel so bad...

Question:
I weaned the kits this afternoon. Lily was trying to escape from them, and I've got an extra cage...so the kits are on their own
I thought they would scream and cry for days, but they seem to be doing fine, they are playing and eating well I went to Petco and bought them a little hidey hut type thing to play in/on/with. They've got their hammock, and I caught them piled up in it
I'm going to make sure and carefully monitor their weight (even more than I have been) to make sure they are gaining healthily
As a side note...Mom is doing really well. She doesn't seem panicky, in fact she is VERY relaxed and seems to be thouroughly enjoying her freedom

Answer:
thats good that everything is going good!! she probably is enjoying her freedom

Answer:
I know it's tough but it sounds like they will adjust very well, and at least the kits have each other.

Answer:
So far I have only had to wean a kit by itself one time. I have been lucky to have chins who are about the same age at other weaning times. The kits with siblings or chins of the same age do very very well. I think the ones who are alone have a much more difficult time dealing with it. I like to see the young ones playing together and sharing when they are the same age. I'm sure they are much happier.

Answer:
I'm glad to hear they are doing well. I bet mom is relieved to have then gone!

Answer:
She is She's able to eat when she wants and sleep when, where and how she wants. I guess it's a relief not to have them pouncing all over her

Answer:
LOL! Poor Mirage right now is over run with the little guys! She has this pleading look in her eyes everytime I walk in...."please, for the love of God, take them away!!!!". I keep telling her, just a few more weeks....
