Cage size for chin who doesn't get out much?
Question: I was going to base my cage on Kindra's cages which are roughly 3'hx2.5wx2d, but my boyfriend thinks (and so do I in some ways) that we should make one a bit bigger. I only have the one chin, and while I might get another sometime in the future, I don't really have any plans to get one anytime soon. That said, Buddy rarely gets to get out of his cage (he is just so destructive), so I would like to have something that is big enough, so that he can get a lot of exercise. On the other hand, I don't want it to be so big that I'll worry about him falling and breaking his legs. What do you guys think would be a good size cage for my situation? Answer: One of the older sizes Kindra had, which I think was this one: I think it said on her webpage, that the dimensions were 4 feet high, 3 feet wide and 2 feet deep. I've always liked that size, its big, but it won't make you feel too bad if you miss a night or two of playtime. Answer: You can always put in some solid floors if it gets a bit high. Answer: Anyone else have any opinions? Answer: Adding a wheel and making more floor space (ie. bigger shelves) can make a big difference. I think that the cage can be a bit smaller if they have a wheel. My boys hardly use their cage other than the "wheel floor". Answer: I'm not really sure that I want a wheel though. We had gotten a wheel a while back (we ended up returning it and losing a lot of money after learning that it wasn't safe), and Buddy was really antisocial when he had it (all that he did was run in the wheel and sleep). Answer: I remember the wheel you are talking about Danielle. Maybe you could build him a swing? My boys loved theirs. Answer: A swing??!!! Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
