Question about fur slipping
Question: Can chinchillas slip the fur on their tails, or is it just the body fur? Answer: Hmmm... I've never heard of a chinchilla slipping tail fur I have no idea! Answer: Felix has a bald spot on the base of his tail, and I've seen Snurr grab Felix' tail with his mouth a few times. So I'm wondering if he just slipped the fur or if Snurr pulled it out Answer: Hmmm, how big is the bald spot? Could he be chewing? Answer: It's about 1 cm long and 5 mm wide. The rest of his fur looks perfect, but I'll have to keep my eyes open... Answer: The only fur-chewing chin that I have ever seen had a patch on his tail at the very base of it. Answer: Hmmm, that doesn't sound too good.... But since I've seen Snurr in action I still suspect him. Answer: yes chins can slip fur on their tails. it happen to me once when i accidently pulled of some of the tail, while grooming them, but it grows back. Answer: Lisa, Kayla is correct, chins can slip fur on the base of their tails. This has happened when I groom my chins (because I hold them at the base of the tail). I have also witnessed it happening at a chinnie show. Answer: Hmmm, what exactly counts as the base of the tail? Once when I was combing Snurr I held my hand a bit wrong and ended up with a load of fur on my shirt. The fur that is missing on Felix is from the tail itself... the hard hairs.
