Won't Eat Good Food
Question: Hank has been spolied by Nutro & won't eat her California Natural now. It really bugs me because the Cali. Nat. is something she ate before but I guess Nutro is so tasty that she's hooked. It wouldn't bother me except for the fact that Nutro is TWICE as expensive for me as the Cali. Nat. So what is happening is that hank is ignoring the fresh deep water fish or venison Cali. Nat. I give her for breakfast & supper, & gorging on the dry kibble (Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care ). This is EXACTLY why I rotate foods, but I guess I was feeding too much Nutro. Hank isn't starving but the cat food is being wasted so I am wondering what to do: (a.) keep feeding Cali. Nat. & hope she gives in (It's been 5 days...); (b.) go get some Nutro ; (c. ) try another brand: Precise is out of stock, she won't touch Eagle Pack & the only other decent brand around here I haven't tried is the super-pricey Lick Your Chops . I think I am leaning towards "c." but I need input. Thanks in advance. Answer: Cats are very susceptible to hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver) so if she isn't eating, I wouldn't force the issue. Make sure that you allow her enough Nutro to satisfy her. Syd LOVES her dry food but doesn't really care for her wet food...I find it strange too but I guess they all have their individual tastes. I find that she prefers softer foods, like Precise, compared to chunkier ones...like Innova. Also, my cats didn't really care for California Naturals in general...so maybe it's not just Hank. My cats' favorite canned food is the Deluxe Medley from Precise. Answer: Thanks CC. Yes it is interesting that Hank & your cats prefer a softer wet food.... Hank has enjoyed Cali. Nat. before but that was prior to Skeeter's Pet World getting in those little addictive pouches of Nutro Complete Care that contain little cutlets in gravy. She ADORES that. She also, like your cats, likes Precise (Mixed Grill & Deluxe Medley esp.) It just bugs me to no end that she USED to eat the Cali. Nat. & now I have 9 cans of it she won't touch!!! I think I will try to return it & get some Lick Your Chops. Answer: I hope they let you exchange the food, Neuro. If they don't, why not keep the cans until Hank decides she's interested in it again? Answer: They should let you exchange the food. Just tell them that your cat didn't like it. Otherwise, I think that Natura Pet has a guarantee. My cats have done the same with food. They like it for a few months and then decide that they don't. I guess the novelty wears off. Answer: Neuro, I looked on the Natura site and found this... http://www.naturapet.com/display.php...ail&pxsl=//faq[@id='1174'] Answer: Thank you. I called the store today & the manager is going to call me back & tell me what he decides. I can always exchange it for guinea pig shavings (I'm back to spruce) & treats & maybe an igloo....
