Only feeding meat?

Question:
My boss adopted a cat for his daughters last weekend. He is a cute little thing. The breed of cat was bred not to have any dander. I never heard of such a thing but my boss is severely allergic and he was in a room with 5 cats for awhile and didn't have any reaction so I guess it is true. Anyway, the breeder told him to only feed the cat actual meat, i.e., turkey, chicken, beef, etc. Has anyone else heard of this?

Answer:
Yes, I have heard it on several BARF lists. I don't know how valid it is though. In the wild, cats consume the contents of the preys stomach as well...including grains and veggies...so it seems to me that you would want to feed some veggies. That is why BARF is so confusing though...some people feed only meat, some don't. Is the cat a ragdoll?

Answer:
Siberian cat.

Answer:
Did the breeder say cooked or raw meat?

Answer:
I didn't ask my boss if it was cooked or raw. He was talking too much about the cat and I couldn't get a word in edgewise. I will ask him today.

Answer:
Wow there are cats with no dander?!?! That might be just what I need! Tim has been dying to get a cat but we can't because of my allergies!

Answer:
Sophie, indeed there is a breed of cat that doesn't produce any dander. I think my boss paid $500 for his cat. Here is a website: http://www.tinuvielcats.com/

Answer:
Denise I think you just made my day! I could kiss you but I won't! Would you settle for a hug!?!?

Answer:
Sorry I was a little I'll let the meat diet discussion continue now...

Answer:
I love cats, have grown up with them all my life but my fiance is deathly allergic to cats (ok, most animals). We know a lady who runs a parrot store that breeds Lynx's (mix b/w house cat and the wild lynx). she tells us that they produce so little dander that most allergic people are good with them. we are taking darren there and I am going to stick the cat under his nose and see what happens......
if the lynx doesn't work, maybe in a few years we can get the siberian cat (ofcourse this is a long time in the future).
