Question:
After seeing all the beautiful melamine cages that everyone has been making, I went out an bought my supplies today! I am going to build it 24"x 24" x 36" tall. I got the guy at Rona to cut my pieces out for me so it shouldn't take me too long to put it together. I have a few questions though for you who have built your own.
Where did you all get your tin pans for the bottom of the cage? Can I make my own or did you all buy them made?
The wire for the door...is 1/2" x1/2" wire the right stuff?
I'll probably have more questions as I go.

I didn't use a pan in my cage because my chins hardly ever use their bottom floor to pee. Instead, they have a litterbox on the middle floor that they use. The 1/2" wire is perfect.

I had my pan custom made (I was lucky because my mom knows guys who work with metal, and they made it for us for free).

If you know of a sheet metal shop in the city (look in the yellow pages), they will custom make pans to order, they made mine for my homemade cages.

Pam, If your pan is going to slide-in it needs to be 1/4" - 1/2" smaller than the inside of the cage, otherwise it won't fit.

pamm i spoke with the guy today and they do not make those pans...............they make drums???..............so if you are in the market for a drum...i am your man LOL..sorry
