Sharp Pointy Chins!

Question:
My girl has some crazy sharp claws on her back legs, and she's scratched me more than once when i've had to carry her out to play time and she kicks off of me to run into the play area (she loves her some play time). I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem, and is there anything that can be done about it. I'm not sure how one would go about trimming chinnie nails. They aren't long, they're just kinda sharp. The scratches are very minor and heal over in a couple of days, but it'd still be nice not to have to deal with that.
Or is she doing that on purpose because she still doesn't know if she likes me or not?

Answer:
Audri, I have the same problem with Tweety. Whenever I put her back in her cage after playtime, she scratches my arms with her back feet. Not very pleasant but she can't help it. The only thing I would suggest doing is wearing a long sleeved shirt or hoodie when you are handling her. This has helped me a lot!

Answer:
Charlie scratches me.. its usually when he is trying to run away from me.. when he is sitting in my lap and I pet him he hates it so he will first try to push my hand away.. which I think is too cute!!! then that dont work so he runs away from me.. sometimes I go to work wondering who scratched me Aspen(the cat) or Charlie(the chin)

Answer:
I never get scratched by the chins...the dog or the rabbit will handle that!

Answer:
Jigsaw has these weird nails on her back toes. If you look at it, it almost looks like a human toe. And of course, the nails grow like human ones too. If I let them grow, they stick out and scratch us really bad.
I trim Jigsaw's nails once in a while when I have someone to help me. I usually hold Jiggy in a towel or blanket and Tim holds the paw and cuts the nail. I have used a nail clipper in the past but I think I am going to switch to baby nail clippers. Either way, you have to snip fast because the chinnie gets a bit squirmy.

Answer:
I file Geri's nails with an emery board. I'm too chicken to cut them but this helps reduce the number of times I get asked if I have a cat due to the scratches on my arms!
Just make sure she doesn't eat it, Geri tries every time!

Answer:
Try letting them run on a hard surface such as hardwood or even lino. That should file them at least a bit.

Answer:
I would if I could, Candy. Our apartment is all carpeted, and we haaate it :P we're both hard wood people ourselves. I think i'm going to have to try Jade's suggestion!
