cat tent

Question:
I recently got a cat carrier and both of my cats kept trying to cram into it. It was causing fights so I decided to make them another place to nap. I found a pattern at walmart for this cute little cat tent. It was really easy to make and the kitties love it- those of you who are crafty should give it a try!
Leo doesn't really get it though.. he mostly uses the tent to store his toys. Today he was sleeping in the carrier with a stuffed cat and not much room, so he got up and put the little toy cat in the tent, then went back into the carrier to stretch out. At first Leo felt like he needed more privacy in the tent, so he brought up a roll of cotton batting from the basement and "stuffed" the opening from the inside. He's so weird!

Answer:
that is way too cute.. do you have the pattern to share with us online somehow??? Im sure that Aspen would love to give it a try...

Answer:
You made that yourself? From a pattern?? Very cool!! Yes, please share more infor regarding how to make it

Answer:
That looks very roomy! Nice pattern too!
My cat Wiley loves his tent as well... there's just enough room for him though, his brother isn't allowed in it!

Answer:
Here's a pic of Wiley just waking up in his tent...

Answer:
The pattern is too large and complex to share, but its easy to find at wal-mart or any fabric store. It's from Simplicity Crafts 9004. It also has a cat house and a fish-shaped cat house, but they look complicated. You're supposed to use basket weaving spline for the arches, but I couldn't find it so I used flexible pvc from a plumbing store.

Answer:
Beautiful handiwork Michelle!! My cat tent for Hank is a $2 secondhand one I got @ a cat show 2 years ago. She can dive right through the opening hole!!!

Answer:
Oh that's adorable!

Answer:
Thanks for the pattern number, that is what I was hoping for!! Off to Walmart...... hmmm, I am going to have fun picking out the material!!

Answer:
The way the pattern is cut, you end up with a square of extra material. I used this piece and some cotton batting to make a "matress" that fit into the bottom of the tent.
