Corn Husks
Question: Is it safe to feed chinchillas corn husks (the leaves, no strings) I used to give it to my gp's but i'm not sure if it is good for the chinchillas as well, we had corn for lunch and I am rolling in them and would love to give them as a treat to the boys! Answer: No it is not safe to feed corn husks to chins. Answer: do you have any info on why it isn't safe, or a website I could go to? Answer: corn in general is not a good thing for chins. I believe it causes gas and bloating which can be deadly for chins. Maybe someone else has more info on this though Answer: Nope, not good for chins...stick to hays Answer: I haven't heard of anyone giving their chins corn husks but you could probably get an educated guess from someone with more experience like well-established chinchilla breeders or rescues, let me see if I can find some links for you to explore and someone you could email for more information. Answer: Here's a link you might be interested in: http://www.chins-n-quills.com/forums...ght=corn+husks Someone else asked the same question in the link above and didn't really get much of an explanation either. I can't remember the name of the website for the chinchilla rescue located in California? The lady who runs it is very knowledgeable about chins. Hopefully someone else will know! Answer: www.cachins.org might be what cj was referring to. One of the ladies running it is Betti Cogswell aka Chinmom. Answer: Yup, that's the one, thanks Sophie! Answer: Some also love fresh vegetables like steamed corn on the cob. that is from the website.. so CORN is safe but the outsides aren't? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
