First Loss
Question: Well, today is a sad day for us. We have lost our first chin. Today was our TOV White's due date. She was right on schedule. Unfortunately we lost the baby. Journey couldn't have had the baby more than half an hour before we checked on her, but by then we were already to late. She delivered one very large mosaic kit, weighing in at 76g. We believe the complications were due to the large size of the kit. Luckily, Journey seems to be doing fine, we are keeping a close eye on her. On a better note, I did get to meet one of her and Thumper's kits from a previous litter last week. He is a handsome nicely sized Pink White (I believe he is TOV). Handsome little devil he was too. Answer: Awww that is so sad Tanya At least Mama seems to be doing ok. I hope she pulls through with no problems! Answer: I'm sorry for your loss Tanya Answer: Tanya, thank God Journey is okay. One of the girls I know posted on another forum how her female gave birth to an 80+ gram kit and if it wasn't for her being home, the mum would have passed. I have heard of kits being born at 80+ grams and I do not have any idea how the mums give birth to kits that enormous. I am sorry to hear about the loss of the kit but there is always another chance for Journey to breed again in the future. Answer: I'm sorry Tanya. I'm glad that Journey is doing well. Answer: Im so sorry... that is so sad.. and I never really realized exactly how hard it is to lose a kit until I lost mine.. Answer: I'm sorry for your loss. Glad to hear that mom and the other kit are doing well though. Answer: I'm so sorry But I am glad to hear mom is okay. Answer: Aww Tanya, I am so sorry for your loss.. I know how hard it can be, be thankful that Journey is doing ok.. I am here if you need me Answer: I got lucky on this one. Tim found it and was the one to make the attempt to revive it. He didn't even come tell me until he was for sure. I only got to see the kit for a few minutes, long enough to weigh it. He buried it and everything. I just can't get over the size. I did say that too, just wasn't sure how it would be taken. If I had lost Journey I would have been a wreck. I didn't have a chance to build even a slight attachment to the kit. I am sad, as I was looking forward to this litter, but I'm dealing. Journey passed the afterbirth and everything just fine not long after I posted. She's stopped calling for the baby.
