Answer:
Where do I find wonderful food? It sounds amazing!

Answer:
Do they use organic meats? Getting meat from the butcher or market does not necessarily mean it's good meat, just that it meets the requirements for human consumption.

Answer:
It is human grade but not organic.
The only brand I know that contains any organic meat (Eagle Pack) isn't great because they mix it w/ low quality non-organic meat (pork of all things... )

Answer:
Why does the food contain garlic...is that not poisonous to cats? I would also do away with liver as a source of protein. Then again, I'm picky about certain things.

Answer:
Garlic is found in most super premium cat foods, & it is a topic of debate. I personally have fed garlic-containing cat foods for years w/ no problems.

Answer:
Garlic is not recommended for cats for several reasons. First, it can cause anemia by damaging red blood cells. And, given that Syd has already treated for anemia, I prefer not to take that chance. Additionally, allicin (a chemical found in garlic) can act as an irritant in the mouth, esophagus, and stomach. Given Max's IBS, that is another reason why I no longer feed garlic. It makes me wonder if my cats' health problems were exacerbated by the presence of garlic in the food?
There is no "safe" level of garlic specified for cats, nor is there a "toxic" level specified. It has also been suggested that cats have individual toxicity levels. Garlic does have some good qualities (immune system aid, flea repellent). However, if you contact the companies using garlic, they will tell you that they only use small amounts which, to me, means that they are using it mostly for flavor enhancement.

I just read an article today that says that garlic has no effect on fleas... although the magazine was from 2000 so maybe they've researched more since then...

Answer:
I know that the garlic is used as a taste enhancer in cat foods. It is not a major ingredient.
I am just wondering how it could be so harmful when I've had cats eating foods containing it for 10 years+ & never had any problems w/ anemia?

Answer:
I believe it might be raw garlic that is harmful...
