IM so proud of her. The only diffrence was last night the light bulb in the room shes in burnt out and im out of bulbs (gettinrg more this evening) but she pee's and poo'd in the litter box, IM a happy happy camper.

Yeah I have always kept the light on, use it as alight for the kids to see when getting up in the night. Now the big feet will be if now that its daylight she will use the box to There is a person that the lady knows that will POSSIBLY take her in if shes using the litter box. Gosh now that shes using it and if she keeps doing this (ill give her a week before I claim shes really fully using it) and once her last of her wounds heal then she just might be able to find a home. God im going to miss her thats for sure. It sure seems like less of a problem now with her using her litter box.

That's great news! And solves the mystery as to why she wasn't using the box. Have you tried making a cover for the litterbox out of cardboard? During the day, if you could still keep the litterbox private (try a cover and/or put it in a corner behind something. Maybe even rig up a curtain or something to tuck it behind) it might give enough privacy for her to use it during the day as well.

So it was the light that affected her? Very interesting! Cats can be very sensitive about their litterbox habits. The smallest thing will prevent them from using their litter box. I would keep the light off for an entire week and see if she uses the box.

I've seen cats at the shelter not use the litterbox ALL day until we shut the lights off to go home.. then they use it. Some cats like their privacy.

does the litter box have a cover? my cats LOVED the covered litter box, till kit trapped toonces in there one morning, woke to this horrible yowling and kit the big meanie was siting quietly and innocently at the opening..poor toonces locked inside...because kit was the alpha kitty and toonces was really low on the totem pole...
