apple branches
Question: Hi all, was just wondering if chins can have branches of an ornament type apple tree....the only differnce is the apples are more sour than a regular crab apple tree. Thanks Shan Answer: moving this to the chin section Answer: oops....sorry, thought I was i the chin section lol. Answer: I would think that if it is an actual apple tree, it should be okay, given it is not in any way chemically treated. However, I would be weary about it. You never know - personally, I would just stick with regular apple branches. Answer: Thanks....going on a gut feeling here, and not going to use them. Answer: It is probably a good plan to avoid the ornamental apple trees. Most of them are not really meant to produce fruit and have been specifically produced to be longer-lived than a traditional apple tree. That is to say, most ornamentals have been engineered to be pretty and flower, not be useful for fruit, although they may bear smaller, bitter fruit. The more traditional apple trees are quite different. If you break off a branch from your ornamental and sniff the green inside, then break off a branch from your generic apple tree and do the same, you'll immediately know the difference. If I was a chinchilla, I'd like the sweet tasty branch, not the bitter icky one! Answer: I agree...i did get a chance to smell them, and they do have a differnt smell compared to the regular apple branches.also I noticed that the thicker branches were red inside.
