OUTRAGED!
Question: I needed to vent so here I am! This morning when I woke up I found a cage and a bag with chinchilla dust and a bath house in it. I noticed there were shavings in the cage, and about 4 inches of water as it rained here either early moorning or middle of the night. There was also a built in hideway. I was mortified when I looked inside and found a very wet and shivering chin inside. I scooped him out right away and we went and heated up a towel and dried him off best I could. He is away from my other chinnies in a warm room. He is now under my close scrutiny to make sure he isn't ill. Luckily I have an extra cage here, and had just sanitized fresh yesterday. I am now praying he will be alright, I have no idea how long he was out there for. And our weather has been not so warm here, luckily it wasn't cold last night. So now here I am with my first rescue chin, and very upset that someone would do this to a helpless little guy. Without knowing weather I still lived here (assuming they dropped him here because they new I was a breeder) I wish they had just called me, emailed me whatever and said they just couldnt' keep him and I would have taken him in, and he wouldn't not have had to endure his ordeal in the rain poor guy. I am so disgusted at how some ppl treat animals. Why do ppl do these things? My heart aches for this little guy. Answer: Oh my, that poor little sweetheart I pray that he will be okay, you are such a great person Answer: UGH!! I just can't understand people sometimes. Poor chinnie, I hope he will be ok. Watch him for signs of pneumonia, as he would most likely be susceptible to it at this point, if he was cold and wet. Best of luck with him. Answer: omg at least he found a home that would take careof him. Poor little thing. I hope he'll be alright Answer: Well he is eating and I don't know how long he went without drinking water but I rushed out and bought him a new one and he is drinking like no tomorrow! He hasn't shivered since he has been inside. I put shavings in one corner, and filled the rest of the cage with a warm towel, which I have been changing around for a fresh warm one every half hour. I also picked him up a calcium stick in case he wasn't getting enough of that where he was. His poos are normal so far, but I guess the next few days will tell if he will truly be alright. I just don't understand they could have knocked, I would not have turned him away. It's obvious they waited till cover of darkness, not caring that he would be at the mercy of the weather and other animals outside. He could have been killed by a stray cat or dog. The cage they left him here in is an expensive cage too worth $80 here and the bath house $18 I don't get it, why spend so much money on a pet, if you plan to just ditch him on someone's doorstep? I am greatful however that whoever it was at least had the small kindness to bring him here and not just drop him off at the dump, or on a street or God knows! He is drying up Ok, he looks like he is a homo beige and definetly male, I looked him over and he appears to be ok as far as outter appearances go. I am worried about pneumonia though that was my first thought. And I know a chin who has it has a very small chance at survival. Hopefully he was not out there for long. And hopefully the rain did not make him ill. Thank God it wasn't a cold night, it's been really warm the last 2 days compared to the frigid weather we had been having. For now he is quarantined, in a few weeks when I know he well I will put him up for adoption here locally. I might have a good friend who would be willing to adopt this little guy so he won't be homeless. And if I can't find him a good home, he will stay here with us. If he starts showing sings of being ill, he will be off to our vet for meds and diagnosis. Well I am off to snaitize the cage he came in now so he can get back into his own home, where he has his hideaway. Answer: That makes me so angry. At least have the decency to swallow your pride and arrange for someone to take your pet. How is he doing? Answer: You know what the wrost is that if there had been just a little more water or had he tired of sitting and layed down he would have drowned. Beleive me I am angry as well as hurt. He is such a friendly little guy. He jumps up into my hands as soon as I open the cage. Almost like he knows I saved him, I'm sorry this bothers me so much I've been crying and praying on and off since I found him. I hope no one ever has this happen to them. And I urege anyone who for any reason cannot care for their chin anymore to please please please don't be afraid, it's an act of love to call for help and surrender the chin where he will be cared for. I don't know of any breeder who would turn a needy chin away. Just call any of us and will take him/her in if you have absolutely no other solution that will benefit the health and happiness of you pet. I don't think any breeder will put you dwon for having the heart to knowck on their door and surrender your chin. Please don't abandon your pet and leave it helpless at the mercy of other animals, and weather like this little guy here was. Answer: I'm so upset I can't even spell correctly sorry for the all the spelling erros ppl! Answer: That poor little guy. Its so wonderful at least it was YOUR home he was dumped at. Id say calm down a few days and right a to the editor of your paper about him being dumped on your step right it directly to whom ever it was that dumped him. Answer: That's so horrible. I was reading on another forum about some chinchillas that were left by the side of the road in EXTREME heat with no shade, and a single dried leaf of lettuce for food. Unfortunately, they both had to be euthanized, but I hope you saved this boy in time! That's wonderful that he's so friendly, I hope he makes it ok, and that he recovers from anything that may come his way. for the little guy, and kudos to you, Blue Moon!
