Question:
introducing........DUSTY ROSE!!!!!!!
(actually, i thought i did this a month ago or so, but then i happened to be perusing and realized i never got any responses so i looked for it and it was not there, guessing i screwed something up -no surprise, huh, fearless leader?)
since i was young, i have alwasy loved siamese. my neighbor had one, and so did a few other people as i was growing up. but i have always been deathly allergic to cats. but then, for some reason, with all my allergy therapy, the cat alergy became almost nonexistent! woohooo! so then along came deshie, trey, and cyrus. and cyrus is a blue point lynx siamese, but i still longed for the dark seal or chocolate point siamese i loved so inmy childhood. well, my girlfriend decided i deserved one and set out to get me one.
she searched high and low and a woman contactedher and said that she knew that mel was looking for a kitten but that she had a 2 year old that needed a home etc. mel and this lady exchanged emaisl several times and then made arrangements to meet. that is how i got dusty. she is an applehead/traditional siamese with a weight problem-but i am definately winning that issue. she also had a funny poochy quality to her belly and what i felt was a very very small hernia. i took her to the vet and he checked her over and it turned out that indeed, she had a weak spot in her stomach muscles that we need ot watch, right where her umbilicus was. and that she had an acute case of mastitis. the weird thing is, she is spayed and never had kittens! and you can tell, from her nipples that she never has. so we put her on antibios etc and she is doing very well and is definately mommy's baby. and, to prove she is mine, she steals my asparagus out of the pan when i am done with dinner. so njow, if i make it, she gets a few stalks too! she talks to me alot, very sweetly, and looks me in the eyes like i should get exactly what she is saying. and i got her on dec 29th, my bday is the 27th, and she played with a toy for the first time a few days ago. i mean, she has kind of batted at stuff a few times her and there, but she is now marathon chasing and tackling the mouse on the fishing pole! it is so cool. and she chases and plays with cyrus. i am soooo happy. here are a couple of pictures of her. she is not found of the cam, but i get a lot of her sleeping

actually, now that i am looking at my post...look at that belly in the last picture.....someone who didn't know better might think she was pregnant. she actually does not have that much of a belly now, thank gosh!!!

She's beautiful! I love the dark Siamese too. I can relate to the overweight cat issue- actually she doesn't look too bad in that pic (I don't really notice her belly being big).

she's gorgeous, how big is she? I have memories of my friend's siamese being very slim and very athletic, and dusty looks absolutely huge compared to her! It could be my imagination, but I'm sure Sam wasn't that tall.

dusty was very oddly proportioned in her obesity. she has actually very dainty bone structure. the weight actually bows her back when she walks and makes her kind of knock-kneed. you can tell she was not/ is not that cmfortable. it was/is all in her lower belly, and it just hangs...swinging to and fro as she walked. i mean, it still does, but she has lost about a pound since she came here and i can tell she feels better. she is starting to really play and it lightens my heart so much to see it!
yesterday, she was jumping and rnning and dancing with the mouse on the fiching pole. and, if i hold my hand up above her head a little, she will jump up to touch it! i guess she thinks she is a whale in a water show or something! right now, she is watching the others wrestle and run from her favorite perch, the little knick knack shelf she likes to sleep on. i can see her little butt wiggling as she gets ready to pounce on trey. she always goes for his head! lol
and it used ot be that when i would feed them their wet food, they would all eat at the same time, and them the other three would leave some on their plats and walk away. at this time, dusty would finish hers AND theirs, if i let her. i would have to shoo her away. now she eats a little more than them, but only her portion....and before, she would eat until she got sick, but she does not do that anymore. of course, i am also feeding her much higher quality food than her previous home was. and they also said she was touchy and moody etc (a normal siamese! lol), but she is very loving and sweet here. i often have her at my feet or up my hind end meowing or tapping for affection. i think she is just, overall, happier here. i certainly hope so. we sure do love her.
