How much food do I need to switch over?
Question: It's time for me to order pellets again, and I am yet again considering switching Buddy from Mazuri to Pam's Coop pellets. How much Mazuri would I need to successful make the switch? Assuming that Pam has the Coop pellets in stock (I haven't asked...), it will probably take between 1-2 weeks for me to get the pellets, and then about two weeks to switch over (right?). I currently have just a teensy bit shy of 2.5lbs of Mazuri. Would 2.5lbs be enough for just one chin (I never remember how long pellets last me) to switch over? Thanks. -Oh, and any comments on the Coop pellets are welcome too. Answer: You should probably be okay with about a pound of food. 2.5 lbs. will be plenty. Answer: Thanks Candice! I knew that you would know the answer. Now I just need to decide if I want to switch over or not (the Coop feed is over half the price of Mazuri, so it's tempting.) Answer: Danielle, if ratlady is getting oxbow pellets in NS, wouldn't it be cheaper for you to get those? (just a thought) Answer: Maybe...Oxbow is really expensive, so I don't know if it would be any cheaper or not...and I do want to get a chinchiller from Pam anyway. I will talk to ratlady anyway though, and see what how much she can get it for (I had actually forgotten all about her saying that she might be getting Oxbow). Thanks. Answer: I just looked up ratlady's thread, and she did say that the pellets would have to be picked up, and she is nowhere near me...so that might not work... Answer: ah well. I tried Answer: Thanks. I always like your help! Answer: Danielle, if you want Oxbow through ratlady, you have missed our first order but I will be getting more in a few months, maybe you'd like to order some then? The price will be significantly less that usual because it's a bulk order (cheaper shipping). Also I would be willing to bring it into Hfx for you. Ratlady also sometimes visits the city, & Banshee sometimes visits the Valley, so it *could* be worked out!! Answer: Just a comment on the Co-Op pellets. They are really very very close to the Unifeed pellets that are available in Alberta. The rancher here that has it milled uses that recipe with a couple of his own adjustments that he has found to work better over the years. I use it with all my chins and they all have been gaining weight nicely. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
