I can't even imagine the sorrow you must be feeling. Those poor little kitties, too - they didn't have a good start to life. I hope you know that you DID make a difference to them. Without you, they would've passed out of this life never having known love and care. They were lucky to have their way to you for the brief time they were here.
Is it possible for you to take a break once these guys go back to the shelter? I think you definitely deserve a break.

After talking to shelter coordinator/foster person, and telling them that four more started throwing up and running fever, i took them all back except for one that appears at least for now to be healthy. the vet and the shelter mgr are going to evaulate them to see if there is anything else that can be done or not... it broke my heart to take them in and say goodbye, but they were not doing better here and after the third antibiotic and feedign with syringe, i had nothing else to try....
im just totally whiped out now and hurting for my little angels... and am definitely taking a break if not stopping... its so hard...
