A Breakthrough!!!.....or not...
Question: Last night my chinchilla ...(suzy) was bein soooo cute. She was playin on my lap sniffing me and sittin in my hand...Ive only had her for about 3weeks now and I got her from petco for my girlfriend so I knew it was gonna be tough work to tame her and calm her down. Can you believe that the guy at petco pulls her out of her bathhouse!!! What a meanie....anyways after all of that playin on me now she bit me twice and she knows it was wrong because now shes sittin on her leap n ledge pouting....wont even move. Do your chins just act wierd sometimes??? SHare your chinnies stories ..... Answer: taming can take a long time. i just got done taming a female that sprayed everyone. she still has fits everynow and then. but other besides that she is just as friendly. my head male does an act when he wants to come out. he'll sit by his door and poof out to look like a big fat butterball with two ears poking out. then when you do open the door he'll start talking to you, and yes i have gotten into a few agruments with him about playtime. he cant just make up any random time to go out a play. but i love sugar Answer: Yeah, taming can take foreeeeeeeeeever. My stinky boy has only been with us about 3ish months now, and he's only just come around to the point that he doesn't run from us because he's scared. He just runs from us to be a pest After he's done making a scene he comes running for attention. It's a slow process, but I remember every so often in the very beginning there would be little breakthroughs and then you wouldn't see them again for a while. I think it's a long process of 'trial and error' in the chin's mind, and you just have to be patient with it. Even if you just want to pick them up and cuddle them to bits! Answer: If she was mistreated earlier in life, it is likely that it will take her a long time to adjust to humans. The best that you can do is be patient with her and take things one day at a time. Answer: i don't think onedose was saying she was mistreated or anything I think he was just happy that she was making progress. I remember that feeling 100%!! Getting a chin from somewhere that they aren't handled much is a challenge in itself! Answer: Yeah I think ive done extremely well with her I devote a lot of time to her and tell her how pretty she is all the time...lol Ive read the stories that people say not to ever get a pet from pet store unless you know there background but shes never sprayed me, only barked the first couple minutes we had her home and now she has her little moments where shes just so stinkin cute and those moments where shes a little hellchinchilla ....lol But I love her maybe more than my girlfriend and it was her b-day gift....lol Answer: Can you believe that the guy at petco pulls her out of her bathhouse!!! What a meanie She wasn't being mistreated at the Petco?! Answer: Well I wouldn't say Pocky was mistreated either, but I know that he endured a bit of the same treatment at the ranch he was born at. Pet stores and breeding ranches are just a short term living situation (if they're lucky), even if most of us can't agree with them. I know the frustration of seeing an animal in conditions that aren't 100% ideal for it in a pet store, but then you visit again the next week and usually the animal is gone! edit: Dumb sig is being cranky about updating to the new version.
