Question:
Today, I weighed Cherry, and she was 688 grams (10 months old, tov white mosaic) When I was putting her back in her cage, I noticed that I could feel, what felt like, teats... but the only male in the cage is neutered. Her cage mates are Buddy and Lugia. Buddy is a neutered standard male, and Lugia is a standard female. So I'm kind of stumped as to how she's pregnant (if she is for sure...) She hasn't had any "play dates" with anyone other than Buddy and Lugia, and Buddy was neutered in January of 2004... and Cherry was put in with him and Lugia this August. If she is pregnant, I would really love to know how she got pregnant... I have/had no plans on/to breed her- because although I have a pedigree for her mother, that lists, 4 gen. of her mothers side... her father is from the same breeder but I haven't recieved a pedigree, so I only know his parents... and, I need better quality chins- so I stoped breeding her parents. Anyways, sorry for the long story, but I'm just a bit upset and concerned on how this happened. Feel free to ask any questions, and thanks.

Yes... there is an unneutered male next to her cage... I never imagined that they could do "so much" through wire mesh! I'm just hoping that she isn't pregnant and that I felt something else...

Some females have visible nipples even when they aren't pregnant. It seems unlikely that she's pregnant but if this is a new discovery, maybe she is. Have you noticed any weight gain?

are you sure the neuter was successful? i've been told about them failing sometimes.

Solarsis: Lol... I think is was successful... I mean- he was in with Lugia before he was neutered, and is now, a year after the neutering... but she hasn't gotten pregnant.

Candycane: About a month ago, she was 664 grams- so there has been a 24 gram gain... But I haven't noticed her belly getting harder... I guess I will just have to keep weighing her, and wait it out... I'm hoping for no kits... but if she ended up being pregnant, the kits are going to be adopted out as pets only.

No... she was born here- so I know for sure that she has never been with a male besides Buddy(who is neutered). The only male that she was with before that would be her brother, Gabe- but he was weaned at 8 weeks, and she is 10 months so I also know for sure that he didn't make her pregnant. She was born on April 4, 2004

Lixx: I REALLY hope your right Lol... his cage is not next to her cage now... just incase she isn't. I usually weight my chins 1-2 times a week, so I'll watch her and see if her belly starts to get harder...
