Quivering Tail...anyone heard of it?

Question:
I feel so silly. For the last little while, we have been trying to figure out why Max is trying to spray. He will walk around quivering his tail like he is trying to spray but nothing comes out. (And yes, neutered males can spray, I've seen it with my own eyes ). Finally, after this bugging me for awhile, I decided to look it up on a cat board I belong to. It turns out that the quivering tail is a sign of affection.
Quivering tail. Many people believe this is the greatest gesture of love your cat can display. Cats will often reserve this for their favorite person.

Max has only been known to do this when I am getting ready in the morning and he is in the bathroom with me. Jason noticed that he did it once to him when he was eating a sandwich (but I think it's more to do with the sandwich than Jason!). So, I guess he really likes the time we spend in the morning together.
Am I the only one who didn't know about this?

Answer:
And I thought I knew alot! I've never heard that. I would have thought he'd just run out

Answer:
you know come to think of it... I think I have seen Aspen doing that before too.. kind of when he rubs up against my let.. he will have his back haunched and wiggle his tail..

Answer:
I've seen shelter cats doing that and watched them b/c I assumed they were about to spray as well.. which they didn't. Interesting Maybe I'm their favorite person b/c I feed them...

Answer:
I feed our cats so they definitely like me better. Actually, Jason tried to feed them last night and they pretty much ignored him. They didn't even sniff their food. Then I pretended to feed them and they came running. Talk about conditioning.

Answer:
I know what you mean! We have been mixing in small handfuls of furball/low energy food with their regular food lately (partly because the furball food is SOOOOO expensive and partly so as not to disrupt their diet), and Blu (my bro's cat), who normally comes running at the sound of food in the dish, will not move until he hears the cupboard door open (which is where we keep the furball food because they kept trying to open the bag when it was just on the counter). As soon as the cupboard door opens, he comes running! It's so funny to see the change in him!

Answer:
I always thought that the quivering tail meant 'I love you!'
Smudge does it when she wants to be fed. It's very cute.
