Charlie's saga continues...
Question: ok...i am seriously at my wit's end!!!!!!!!!!!!!! here is me: charlie's gone from peeing on a few things (because of his uti) to spraying like a madman! he's sprayed before, but maaaybe once a day and it was never in my room (where he lives mostly). it would be out in the house where the dogs are. so i understood that. but all of a sudden, for the past three days, he's been on a non-stop, spray-a-thon. he sprays on the windows, my dresser-drawers, my nightstand, the trashcan, the door, EVERYTHING! W-T-F?!?!?!?! is there anything i can do besides the felliway? i only ask because i have no idea how long it will take to get it in. i want to get the plug in and the spray. i'll spray the whole room if i have to! i thought it might be cause i wasn't spending enough time with him, so i tried to hang out with him, but he just sprays in front of me!! and i tried sleeping in there the other night and he kept spraying the window. i had to finally leave. i really want to get a spray bottle for when i catch him in the act. i will asap. i need HELP! (btw - he has a vet appt on monday). also - his poos are more squishy now than runny. i haven't noticed many/any pee balls in the litterbox. i think he's using all his pee to spray. and keep in mind: i'm not mad at him! just frustrated. i still give him kissies. Answer: there's not a kitty in heat hanging around outside is there? lol gods that's got to be frustrating..i don't have any advice but you have all my sympathy! Answer: I've already given you my advice more times to count. I hope that you can work this out. Good luck at the vet tomorrow. Answer: thanks, jami. and thank you, candice. i will let you know what happens tomorrow. Answer: Until you are absolutely 100% sure that this isn't a medical problem, I would not punish the cat. And even then, I wouldn't punish either. Stress can be a major cause of behavioral spraying and punishing Charlie (who sounds a bit sensitive anyways) can make it worse. There are some other tips in this article from TCS. http://www.thecatsite.com/Cats/Cat_B...ing_Urine.html Answer: I have 2 Yahoo groups that I belong to for Donovan. You might try joining and seeing if anyone there has some helpful advice. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/catswithflutd http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FLUTD Answer: that article was super helpful. i think he IS stressed. i want to find him a new home because i feel like he will be less stressed having a permanent home where he is more part of the family. but i have no idea how i'll adopt out a spraying cat. Answer: I apologize for this daft question but since Charlie is fixed, does his spray smell like spray from a male cat that isn't fixed? I have smelled cat spray before and my lord is it strong! BTW Jane, I can withdraw my offer of adopting him. Answer: it smells like regular cat pee now (after he was neutered). so it's not that bad. just annoying to clean. you withdraw your offer!!?? Answer: Ah okay. At least it doesn't smell as bad as cat spray. Jane, I couldn't adopt a cat that is known for having problems with spraying. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
