Wire bottomed cage???
Question: I ordered a cage from Martin's on Friday, one with a pull out pan. The cages I've already got are pull outs and don't have wire floors-so I assumed this would be no different. I called them-yes, it's got a wire bottom and yes, they've already shipped it So-do any of you know how to effectively remove those wire bottoms? What tool(s) would I need? I'm sure this is going to be a huge hassle... Answer: Don't you have to assemble Martin's cages? If so you might be able to assemble it without the wire floor. Answer: Carla the wire bottom might not even be attached. They come folded and parts of it not even attached to the cage. I do know they just have little metal clips a pair of needle nose pliers and you can pry the rings open pretty easily. I actually have wire floor on my cage and have never had a problem. Answer: I hope it's not attached, or is easy to pry off. Thanks y'all Answer: All of our cages are martins cages with the pull out pans. They do come in pieces...ofcourse since darren put them together he would know how the floor is. If you don't put in the bottom floor, your chins will be right in the pull out pan???? they are plastic pans and we personally do not put any plastic in our chins cages (don't want them ingesting things that don't break down in their tummies...our chins eat everything...even through leo braun wheels and aluminum rods!) Good luck and let us know how it works out. Answer: The pan is plastic? I was thinking it was metal-because silly me, I went by the picture on the site. I've got a few chins who are mucho destructo chins...and they have no plastic in sight, but I've got some really docile ones that won't chew anything other than wood-I'll make sure to put some "good" chinnies in this new cage Answer: Yup, they're plastic. I noticed that when I had been looking at them. The pic shows metal, but if you read the description carefully, it says plastic Answer: Weird! I would have thought that they would have metal pans too. Answer: I talked with darren about the cage assembly....he thinks that the bottom floor is connected (comes connected) to one of the walls. he said he would cautious though about removing the bottom floor....he thinks if you take out the bottom floor that the integrity of the cage might be compromised. you know it is built a certain way for a reason and I have to agree that the bottom floor provides more support (but we could be wrong). Answer: I was going to remove the wire floor of a cage i had bought from someone... Though, my dad said the same thing- It may not be safe to remove the wire flooring, as it offers support for the cage. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
