Question:
She hasn't gone yet...tomorrow. To be fixed.

I'm really nervous about it. I can't feed her after midnight, no water either. Meeko will have to do without. Which isn't a big deal cause he sleeps with me at night anyways. I think Pickles will have a harder time with no water.

Plus I guess I'm not allowed to feed her at all for 24 hours after the surgery. She'll probably sleep through most of that. I'll put food and water in the bathroom for Meeko I think, and put him in there so he can eat when he's hungry.

I don't know why I'm so worried (other than I'm a worrier) about it. I hope she doesn't lick her stitches. Cause the vet is closed on Sat/Sun and there will be no way for me to get a cone to keep her from licking them.

My poor baby.

I'm sure Pickles will be fine. If you think a cone is necessary why don't you get one when you pick her up, just in case? Let us know how Pickes makes out, and how Meeko survives the starvation torture!!! :LOL:

I'd ask about getting an E-collar before you leave the Vet.. If you have to buy it, maybe you could see if you can return it if you don't end up needing it. They do sell E-collars at larger petstores but I think you have said that you don't have good stores in your area.
As far as feeding after surgery.. a small amount of food & water several hours after surgery would be fine.. at work, the cats that have had surgery in the morning get a bit of food & water before we leave for the night (usually around 6pm).. Just don't over-do it.. their tummies might be still queasy from the anesthetic.

I know how you feel - I've always been a nervous wreck when I've had mine in for their spay/neuter. And they've always been just fine. I agree with Sue - a small amount of food in the evening wouldn't hurt. Best of luck to Pickles - I'll be thinking of her tomorrow.

awww,,I was the same way with Kaymen,,,,,which vet are you using???

Dr Lepin used to forward her calls to her home on the weekends for emergencys, Im not sure if she still does it or not tho,,,and Im almost positive that Vicki(pet store) has the e-collars,,,if worse come to worse you could always make one, but Im sure you wont need one

Brandy...I'm using Lapine. Yeah...the one when you're heading towards where you live from town. She's got the red horse trailer in the parking lot.

Yeah Nikki from the Petstore is my neighbour so I could talk to her if I was really worried. I'm sure it'll be okay.

Just I guess part of it is that since I got Meeko she's been a little distant. I don't think she's mad at me, but now that she has someone to play with, she doesn't feel the need to be around me all the time. But I miss that. At least she still comes to the door when I get home.

I hope she doesn't hate me for this later.
