Question: i thought yall would like to see this website i didn't know chinnies ate all of that stuff it says!!! http://www.chinchillas-chinchillas.com/ Answer: You own a chinchilla and you don't know their dietary requirements? Answer: i do but i didn't know they ate roots and those stuff in the wild Answer: I know what you mean - moss?? Does moss really sound appetizing? Then again, I don't really think chin pellets look that great either. I'd also never heard of anyone giving frozen fruit to their pet chins. Answer: Just because something is on one site doesn't make it true. The key with anything, is to research it once you find out something new. They are a little too generous with their 'captive chinchilla diet" (cookies????). As for the wild diet, they are herbavours and do eat plant material in their area, though I would imagine moss is not common. Grasses, some root matter and the fleashier plants for water consumption. Answer: well, to be fair, it doesn't really say what kind of cookies...that's kind of a broad term and could mean anything, really Answer: I would also caution that pet chinchillas are very different from wild chinchilla and probably couldn't handle the same foods that the wild ones can handle. Answer: Yeah - you can't trust most of what you read. I was wondering if anyone else had ever heard of frozen fruit - not that I think it's a good idea. After all, my first chin book shows the chins munching on a whole peach - I wonderred how they could research a whole book and be that far off on diet. Answer: I've given Buddy frozen raisins. They don't really freeze that well though...
