Dogs with bad gas?
Question: I hate to write about this but my new Rotti I adopted has a serious case of the stinks. He has smelly gas all too often. I might take him to the vet but I dont think its anything serious. I dont feed him anything from the table other than the very odd bit of rice if I cook it I give a little do the dogs with salmon oil. I give the dogs Summit Lamb and Rice which the vet reccommended years ago for my dogs, and other than that I just add glucosamine tablets even though they get some in their dogfood. Just seeing if there is anything else I could rule out. Im sure some dogs just have worse gas than other but geez. Ok just seeing if anyone else has some suggestions before I call the vet to see that everything is A OK. He has had good poo's since Ive had him and the former owner used... I cant remember the name but it was about equivilent to Summit I think as far as a better type dog food goes. Thanks! OH here is a updated pic of Maverick and Gypsy just for anyone who would like to see too... might as well Answer: Beautiful picture Jess! Many Pit owners complain their dogs have horrible gas too. What I see that is recommended most often is adding a little non fat, plain yogurt to their food. Answer: Wow, beautiful dogs! I absolutely adore Rottis I have no suggestions as to your dogs smelly problem. We have a little Boston Terrier, and we can smell her clear across the house when she gets the farts. Any suggestions anyone has I'd be very interested in too! Answer: That's a gorgeous picture Jess. Sorry I can't help with the smelly problem though.. Which dog is which? My vet recommended the yoghurt thing to me when Penny was a kitten and had totally noxious gas! Answer: Very beautiful dogs! All of our animals get acidophilus tablets on a regular basis to help digestion. If you give yogurt, make sure it has live bacterial culture. Otherwise, the tablets work just fine too. Another thing to consider is that the food is causing it. Even the best dog food will not agree with every dog. But I would try the acidophilus/yogurt first. Answer: I'll vouch for the food thing, not every food formulation is appropriate for every dog. I had to try a few different brands for my beagle before he stopped peeling the paint off the wall with his gas, but my german shepherd has never had a problem regardless of which food she has. Answer: Thank you Ill try a new dog food if the yogurt (Plus thank you I will check out the acidophilus tablets too) doesnt work. I give glucosamine and salmon oil tablets and they take them willingly they are so good Thanks! I mean... gas I can live with but 14 stinky toots a night is just 14 too many. Ew! LOL. And the poor guy knows.. he looks like... gosh Im sorry but I cannot help it! Answer: Our old english sheepdog used to scare himself. He would fart and then jump up like someone pinched him in the butt and then look at me like 'how could you?'. Old English are known to have sensitive stomachs. He would get diarrhea and gas very easily. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
