LILA HAD 10 PUPPIES! (PICS!)

Question:
Lila had her puppies last night- and there are ten grunting, whiny, writhing little black and brown babies on my front porch now. And strangely enough, even though Lila only has the impression of a ridge- about half of the puppies have very prominent ridges!
3 BROWN, 7 BLACK
3 FEMALES, 7 BOYS!
A PILE OF PUPPIES
THE WHOLE LITTER
THE FAR PUPPY HAS A RIDGE
ONE OF THE BROWN BOYS
MY FAVORITE- THE FAT ONE! lol!
LILA BEING A GOOD MOMMY
THE FRONT PUPPY HAS A RIDGE

Answer:
WOW! That's alot of puppies! Yeah, you can see the ridges really well in the pics...
I assume that Lila doesn't have a ridge then? Are you sure she's a mix or did you think that b/c she was ridge-less? I know that at least a few of Ridgeback litters are born without ridges even if both parents are purebred... usually those pups are sold as 'Pet only' though...
Congrats to you & Lila!

Answer:
OOO, so cute!! I want that brown boy!!!

Answer:
Too cute, congratulations!

Answer:
She was a stray, so we THOUGHT her daddy was the Ridgback down the road, because she looked so much like him. I doubt she is pure, but she could be. She has the dark stripe, but the fur doesn't stick up. Anyway, she was a bad girl so now we have 10 puppies! LOL! Not really her fault. We had to get her treated for heartworms, too, so had to choose which we would do first since we couldn't afford it all at one time. We are making the best of it, though, and she's going in exactly six weeks to get spayed, so NO MORE PUPPIES! We will enjoy these while they last!

How is heartworm treated? I bet that is expensive...

Answer:
Oh yeah- funny story to add!
Lila has an insatiable appetite, so, with my experience with babies only through fostering cats- which always seemed to not eat 2 or 3 days after, I was surprised when she jumped up last night to eat at regular feeding time. She had already had 7 babies- the first one around 5pm. My 12-year-old daughter, Virginia, ended up catching number 8 in midair in her bare hands while Lila is happily munching away on kibble! Good thing she was there! Not sure if i would have stomached that! LOL! Lila had another about 11, and this morning there was a total of 10. Hubby is very put out- cringed everytime we told him she had another! He was in better mood today, though, when he saw them (and after three people at work promised to take one! LOL!)

You bet. A $500 shot. And don't tell me how this works, but she threw up globs of worms for about three days. As much as I love animals, don't think I'll take in another stray dog...

Answer:
Aww...what cute puppies!!! Are you going to keep any of them?

Answer:
Congrats! The puppies are sweet.
