Keesha & Ally?
Question: Thanks for asking, Neuro! I am going to visit them in a few weeks time to see how they are settling in. Josh is having some trouble with his work van (our only form of transportation) so I'm hoping it will be fixed by then otherwise we might have to take the bus. It's about 2 hours away. The girls have a 3 acre (or was it 5?) backyard to run around in and an energetic 4 year old girl to keep them busy. She behaved very well around the girls (she's been around dogs ever since she was born) and she's in charge of feeding them and caring for them (under her mom's watch) but she's not allowed to walk them ('cos the girls pull hard on their leashes) and she likes them very much. I'll post an update after I get a chance to visit them and hopefully take some pictures with their new family. I'll let them know about joining POTN but they don't seem to be big internet users so I'm not sure how often they'll post. Answer: Thanks Diana. I am so pleased that this worked out for you, I know how hard it can be to find a loving adoptive home for pets you care about. Keesha & Ally are really adorable dogs & it's a relief to hear that everything went well!!! Answer: Im glad that you found them a good home.. and that you are going to visit them. Answer: I got an email from their new mom this morning and she does not want them anymore. She's having trouble with their potty habits even after I warned her about everything. I gave her detailed instructions on their habits and quirks and emailed her even more information and instructions but I guess she didn't read them. She likes their personalities but can't handle them anymore. So Josh and I are going to pick them up either tonight or tomorrow morning depending on when their new mom can make it. She mentioned dropping them off at the Barrie SPCA even after I told her repeatedly that I want them back if anything happens now Josh wants to get them out of there asap before they get dumped in a shelter. This is really bad timing, I'm up to my neck in credit card debt due to the cash advances I've taken to cover rent and bills and Josh still hasn't started work yet. It's going to cost $50 in gas just to get them and I have to return the $100 adoption fee to them. I might have to take another cash advance on the other card just to cover everything that's coming up. Thank god I started work yesterday but we are cutting it extremely close in terms of finances right now. It will be good to have them back though, I'm looking forward to seeing them again Answer: Answer: Darn. I'm glad that you get to see them again but geesh, what more can you do?! You told her straight out about their potty habits. Answer: Di, that is such a shame! I know you went into so much detail about the girls and didn't leave anything out. I hope the woman listens to you and doesn't drop them off at the SPCA. I know things are difficult for you financially so this isn't the best time to get them back but at least they will be getting good care from you. I am sure it will be nice to have them with you. Answer: I am waiting for her to call me and let me know what is a good time to pick them up, tonight or tomorrow morning. We are financially tight, but it's an emergency and I will put it on the card, I don't want them dumped at a shelter. Their new mom said that small dogs like them are adopted out easily but I don't think she will mention their potty habits and they will be bounced around from home to home again. I might need some advice on how to break their fear of pottying on newspaper and paper-train them to make it easier to find a new home. They are given tons of praise for going on newspaper but would still rather go outside. But that's for another thread. Answer: Di, I thought Keesha and Ally were doing really good with their potty habits. Answer: They did GREAT with me. I walked them 3 times a day, every day at roughly the same time and after 3-4 weeks, they understood the schedule and would wait for me to come home. The first few weeks they didn't know when to expect a potty break so they had accidents. They had potty problems at my friend's condo as well. She just didn't have time to take them out. At their current home, I think their new mom just let them out into the backyard to do their business and assumes they've pottied when they come back inside when they didn't, she doesn't supervise them. They are used to me walking them to potty, I can get them to potty in 2 mins when I take them out because they KNOW what I expect. She mentioned they were peeing on her carpet when I TOLD her to watch them on carpet and to confine them to a non-carpeted room when no one is home to watch them because they WILL pee on carpet, carpet = grass in their mind. Actually, I suspect that Ally is the only one peeing and pooping on carpet. In any case, if she doesn't call back soon I will start calling her. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
