okay i am beginning to think there is some people that just shouldnt own dogs
most if you probably remember Misty, the little silky terrier who needed a new home because Craigs boss didnt want her anymore,,,
okay well they start off with Brooke, the rotteweiler,,,,,,they clain she was an awesome dog, smart, listened,,,,great with kids,,etc,,,well when Lynne got pregnant with Ethan, Brooke started acting up around Lynne,,,she didnt trust Lynne anymore with the other kids, she was weary of her,,,,Lynne said it was becuase Brooke didnt know who she was anymore becuase your smell changes when you are pregnant I'm sorry but the dog will still know who you are IMO,,,,then she said also Ray was only home 2 days of the week so she thought she was acting up becuase Ray was never home(he was travelling for work)
so they decided to get Misty., the silky terrier, got her,,,everything was great....loved her to pieces,,,then all of a sudden Misty started peeing on Lynnes bed,,she did this on a daily basis,,,Lynne started crating Misty on a daily basis,,then it got to the point she was nippng at Ethan the baby for no reason,,,
I belive she was mad for being crated so she was taking it out on the baby so I kept misty here and Petkeeper came up and thankfully gave her a forever loving home where she is NEVER in her crate
then they decide to get Angel,,,a golden retriever,,,got her everything is fine,,,love her to bits,,,then one day Angel puked, Lynne and Ray were cleaning it up, Lynne put her foot up to keep the puppy out of it and Angel attacked her foot the next day Angel attacked Ethans arm for no reason,,,,Lynne called the breeder becuase she is guaranteed against all of this.,,..Lynne also told me Angel growls everytime she eats....so she takes her back to the breeder,,,,breeder calls her in 2 days and says its Lynnes problem,,,,,there is absolutely nothing wrong with the dog

he said he has put her in a small crate(kennel) so she will get terretorial faster,,nothing,,,he has taken food out of her mouth,,,nothing, he has got co-workers to take food from her,,nothing,,,,he has got customers to do it ,,nothing
he said Lynne is ruining the dog,,,BUT HE GAVE HER BACK TO THEM
Lynne ties Angel up at the door so she cant get into trouble,,,she is crated when ever she does something ,,even if shes just acting like a normal puppy,,,she is fed on a schedule,,,,
I think maybe some poeple should jsut NEVER own dogs

but the thing is Lynne and Ray love dogs but from everything I have read about training and what not they are doing backwards,,,like everyone including the breeder told her to crate rain her which is great but shes doing it the wrong way,,,I just dont think they have a way with animals,,,,,but Lynne thinks shes oding everything the right way is the thing,,shes not ruining them intentionally
i lent her my dog training videos and movies and hopefully that helps

Uh, well, I doubt the silky is capable of such complex frontal-cortex emotion and plotting... But I do think these people have been getting a lot of bad dogs (ie. temperament problems such as possessive aggressiveness, and possibly some dominance issues: which are very common in poorly bred animals) mixed with poor training and poor socialization.
I also suspect there is more going on than the owners are admitting.

I can't really say much 'cos I don't know how they are training their dogs. But the breeder should be knowledgable enough to know if their dog is showing aggression in general so the dog could be reacting to something she associates with Lynn when she snapped at her.
I agree with GC, since nobody has firsthand information other than the owners themselves, they might not be telling you the whole story. I hope the training videos you lent her helps to improve the situation!

me to CJ,.,,I talked to her today and she seems to be doing better,,,,,,lets hope this keeps up,,i think Lynnes problem is she gives up to fast without being consistent they are great people but I really dont think they should have a dog

Ugghh....I know these types of families. Some people can successfully keep small children and dogs housed together with no problems because they have lots of common sense AND dog sense. Others simply have no clue what they are doing. They bring a dog in with small children and just expect them both to know how to get along. On occasion they get lucky but most times they don't. It always seems to be the dog that loses in the end.

if that was the case Misty, the silky terrier would be acting this way at Shannons house, Shannon says you couldnt ask for a better dog you neevr seem to give dogs enough credit you act as if all dogs are stupid

Dogs are definitely smart Brandy I think that sometimes we apply our human emotions to dogs. They are reacting most definitely.. but not always the way we think. It is tricky sometimes trying to figure out why they do what they do. The key is to try to see things from their doggy perspective and not from ours . Does that make sense? LOL
Also, puppies are like sponges. We HAVE to train them well while young. Even poorly bred dogs can be worked with as long as training is done properly as a puppy.
