Question:
joey and pippin are due for their heart worm, we did proheart 6 back in march and then we started hearing all the bad publicity about it. then tonight in the paper there is an article for a recall of proheart 6. so i am just wondering what others are using for their pets needs ??
we used proheart 6 and frontline for the boys, but now i need to switch to something else i looked up some information on revolution ( which protects against fleas, heartworm,ticks, but not hookworm and roundworm)
also sentinel protects against fleas, heartworm,hookworm, roundworm and whipworm, but not ticks
or.... the old standard of heartguard and frontline for the rest ??
any opinions would be appreciated

I use Sentinel for my dogs.. I don't worry too much about ticks b/c I live in the City. After a walk in the woods which we do almost every weekends, I check both dogs over completely for ticks.. never found any yet...

suzoo, i live in the city but go to my parents a lot ( they live in the country with heavily wooded areas in the back yard) so i worry about ticks for them,
how much does sentinel run you ?? after comparing all of them i think i like that the best, it is hard enough to remember all my medication let alone the boys too

well i have to see the vet for joey still, but pippin's vet ( i know i have two different vets, long story) will put him on anything i choose. when scott talked to joey's vet today they didnt even know the proheart has been recalled. i think i am going to go with senitnel, as it has the most coverage for what i am looking for. pippin's vet told scott this afternoon that the medication wasnt "bad" just that dishonest vets were giving it to sick dogs and it was causing death, and that it is supposed to be reintroduced in the spring. if we want to put him back on it.
i told scott no way that was going to happen, i just dont trust the medication now.
we will stick with the old fashioned stuff for now

Thanks for the heads up on the Proheart 6 I'm not sure if that product is sold in Singapore, I will check with the vet when I take Lavander in for a check-up this Monday.
