Question:
OKay my 5 month old female puppy, Akala, has messed up ears. one ear is normal, facing staight and bent over. her other ear is the one that is messed up. it is crooked to the side and is always bent over( when she is listening intently her ears should go straight up like her 1 year old sister, Mitsy) It makes her look cute, but im worried about it. will it stay like this forever?

I couldn't say for sure, but myneighbor had a little terrier (terror, more like it) that had one ear that always stayed flopped. Turned out, he had an ear infection- and it did some nerve damage. It DID improve a little after the infection was cleared up- though it never perked as much as the other one.

Friends of mine had a collie who's one ear would not stay bent over. The vet had them put weights in her ear for the desired look. However, as soon as they took the weights out it popped back up. I think it may be a genetic thing, not sure?

Alot of mixed breed dogs will end up with crooked ears depending on how the influence of each breed affects the dog. In most cases, there is no need for concern...has you vet checked her ears? As long as the ear isn't crooked enough that it is affecting her circulation and that there is no underlying infection, there is nothing to worry about. It is most likely permanent but there are ways to train the ear (as mentioned above) but IMHO, I feel that it is unecessary if there are no health concerns.

Akala is not a mixed breed. And yes the vet checked her. They gave her some glue like stuff to keep her ears in the position mom wanted it. but after a month of it mom quit using it cuz it wasn't working. And no i don't think its affecting her health. it probably is just the way she was born with it. But come to think of it when we got her her ears were fine and normal.....
P.S. We got her from my Uncle and Aunt's place in Oklahoma so we do very well kno the breeder
