pippin is having surgery

Question:
pippin got this nasty looking sore the week before xmas on his hind leg, at the elbow joint, it looked like a hotspot so we just started putting peroxide on it and keeping it covered because he was licking it like crazy.
well..... it has gotten bigger in a week ( the size of a quarter now) so scott took him to the vet yesterday and they dx it as a benign ( she thinks) cyst or tumor. we only have two options
1. try medicated creams and steroids and hope it shrinks it
2. surgery to remove the growth

the vet doestn think the creams will work and suggested having it removed right away. so he is going in tomorrow morning and i am nervous about it. i just hate the thought of anesthsia.
the cost is 250.00 but it includes the pathology ( to make sure it isnt cancerous, i hope it isnt) and for the liver profile tests to see about anethesia
please send good vibes tomorrow

Answer:
Oh poor Pippin, I really hope he isn't scared. And I super really hope it isn't cancerous.
Sending good vibes to Michigan.

Answer:
Good luck, Pippin! It sounds like your vet is doing everything right. Keep us posted...I'm sure he'll be fine.

Answer:
Sending a Speedy Recovery for Pippin and a for Theresa b/c I'm sure you're worried as any mom would be.. I'm sure he'll be fine though..

Answer:
thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and words, the vet just called and said pippin did great and they removed the cyst, and are sending it off to the lab ( just to be sure) i will be anxious until the results come back but at least he is ok, the vet said he has fourteen stitches ( wow that was a big incision) and i am bringing him home with an elizabethan collar, as he already started licking and biting at the site as soon as he was awake
i dont think he can fit in his cage with hte colllar on and just might have to sleep with us until the stitches come out gee darn
well i am off to pick up my baby

Answer:
Excellent. Thanks for the update.

Answer:
I hope all is well with Pippin. Glad to hear he came out of the surgery with no problems. Here's hoping the test results are negative. :crossfingers:

Answer:
it has been an interesting night to say the least, i picked up pippin and talked with the vet, she is hopeful that everything is negative, but cant be sure till the tests come back, yeah great way to make me feel at ease about it, she called it a histeocarcinoma i am going to do some research on it now.
anyway, he has the huge collar on and it is quite cumbersome, he has been sleeping and walking into everything like he is drunk,
i was wondering does he have to wear the collar ALL the time, the vet said not to remove it as he can eat and everything with it, but as long as i am monitoring him, i shouldnt see why he cant have it off, plus it just restricts his movement sooo much, ( they had to fit him with the biggest one cause he kept getting at his stitches)

lol, as i am typing this, joey is trying to engage his brother in a game of chase and pippin just slid down to the floor and fell asleep

Answer:
Wow 14 stitches! Good to hear he is doing well and getting better. I hope all the tests are negative, please let us know when you find out.
