Animal By-Laws in your community.

Question:
Hello,
Since I am new to the forum I hope that this hasn't been brought up before or atleast not in the recent history.
I was just wondering, in your community how many dogs are you allowed to have, what are the liscencing fees and do you believe that your town is "pet friendly"
-------
To answer my own questions. If you live in the main part of town you are allowed to have two (2) dogs and if you live on the outskirts of town you are allowed to have three (3) our fees are...
$20 - unaltered dogs
$15 - senior owners
$10 - altered dogs
$50 - Kennelers Licence
I do not think that this town is overly dog friendly, all parks have a "leash" policy which I understand but there is also a ban on "exotic" animals in our town, other than listed in the by-law.. several emu farmers have had to fight the town to keep their flocks.

Answer:
I believe it's $20 for unaltered and $15 for neutered dogs here. We are allowed 4 PETS total (I'm a little over )no matter what mix. From my experiences, it's a fairly friendly city. We have 2 dog parks ( that I know of) and I believe there could be more on the way. Dogs are also allowed on the transit system provided they are on leash. I'm not sure which animals are banned if any...

Are you serious??? I wish they were allowed on buses in Ottawa...
Licences are $20 for un-sterilized dogs... $10 if they are sterilized... and a FREE life-time licence if they are both sterilized and microchipped...
You are allowed 3 dogs in the City and 5 in the rural areas. In the city you are allowed a total of 5 pets.. so if you have 3 cats, you can only have 2 dogs...

Answer:
Just to follow up with Suzoo... I know a lot of the bylaw officers (due to work), and have asked them how strict they are about the rules. They say they only enforce the rules if an owner's dogs cause a disturbance to neighbours or aren't looked after properly. So if a responsible dog owner in Ottawa had six quiet, neutered, licensed and chipped dogs, bylaw would turn a blind eye.
A lot of these rules are implemented because of uncontientious and irresponsible pet owners. By having the guidelines, bylaw officers have the tools with which to keep the peace!

Yup, and you can bring cats and others aslong as they are crated and don't cause a disturbance.

Yup, if no one complains, they won't do anything here either.

I believe it is the same way here, I was just wondering if my town was pretty average for prices and such.
Our town seems to have no limit on cats, and not even a real need to tag them at all. Though I haven't looked into that so I could be wrong.

Answer:
I believe for Toronto the limit is 6 animals and only 3 can be dogs. So you can have 3 dogs and 3 cats or 6 cats.
The license was $10 each for a year since both Keesha & Ally are spayed & microchipped.
Animals are allowed onto Toronto transit as well, just not during rush hours.
