Sheltie Question
Question: Hi, I have a question for Sheltie owners, I'm planning on getting a sheltie puppy (8 weeks) and was wondering if you can teach a sheltie at that young age not to bark allot every time a person comes to the front door or if a stranger comes inside ? Thanks for all your help Answer: You teach it not to bark just like you would teach any dog not to bark. We use a spray bottle for our girl, she is a real barker. She is doind alot better now, we rarely have to spray her, she sees it and shuts up lol. Its just water in the bottle so it doesn't hurt her. Answer: Some sites I found: http://www.dogpatch.org/sheltie/barking.html http://www.sheltie.com/roundtable.htm#Q9 http://www.shelties.com/_disc/000001f2.htm <--Barking http://www.sheltie.com/roundtable.htm <--a forum just for shelties General info sites: http://www.dogpatch.org/training/train.html http://www.echowyn.com/SheltieInfo.html Answer: The spray bottle works very well! If you want you can also start teaching basic commands{sit, down, stay} as soon as possible and when some one comes to the door take their attention away from the person at the door by giving a command. I hope this helps. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
