Hip dysplasia
Question: when Sasha goes in to get fixed in Feb I am also having her xrayd for Hip Dysplasia,,,,,,,when she was a pup, her back legs gave out on her once or twice, didnt really think much of it becuase it never happened again,,,well last night I took Sasha for a walk with me, it was about 1.5 long walk and when we came home she went right to bed,,,,when she woke up and started wlking around she was limping really bad then when she went to go up the stairs to go pee, her back legs fell out and she fell on the stairs,,,,, when she came back in she was fine for a while then I was checking her over on the kitchen floor, i thought maybe she hurt the pads of her feet or something, ,,when I was looking at her front feet, her back legs gave out again,,,,then once again she went to go upstairs and loook out the window and she fell once again Now this morning she seems absolutely fine so I suspect it might be HD so I might as well get it all done at once while shes under,,, pray my baby doesnt have it,,,, Answer: Oh no, Brandy, how aweful. I hope she'll be okay.. I don't know anything about HD but can they do anything about it? Answer: I hope Sasha doesn't have it either! Maybe she's still growing into her 'adult' legs and is just a bit clumsy right now? Sending her lots of good vibes for her vet check-up and spay Answer: thanks guys,,,I really hope she doesnt have it,,i am not sure what they do when dogs have it,,,,,,,does anyone elsE? Answer: Brandy Ill keep her in my thoughts. I think theres a surgery for it but im not positive. Let us know how shes doing. Answer: I think you can supplement the diet with glucosamine, but I'm not sure what else can be done. I'll go see if I can find any information on Google. Answer: This is a great resource for hip dysplasia. http://www.workingdogs.com/doc0090.htm If she does have HD (God forbid), please make a note of contacting the breeder and hopefully they will have their dogs checked. Answer: Brandy, first off, kudos to you for getting Sasha fixed. You are doing the right thing for her. I hope Sasha doesn't have hip dysplasia. Poor baby! You heart must have dropped when you saw her falling like that. Please let us know what the vet says and I am keeping her in my thoughts and prayers. Answer: Denise, you have no idea,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I am not sure if I can contact the breeder or not,,i dont think I have his number anymore but I will definately look around and see if I have it somewhere,,,,,I cant call him anyways, Craig would have to,,hes french Candice is a great site, I didnt look through it all yet but when I have a few more minutes i will go back and look again I hope she doesnt have it Answer: ok so i just got off of the phone with my vet ,,,she said when she is getting fixed she is relaxed enough that she can feel around her hips and feel how lose her hips are,,if she feels anything then we will talk about what to do she asked me how she sits,,,straight up with her knees straight out or relazed?? I said actually she usually kinda sideways and she said ok thats a pretty good sign that she has a sore hip she said when they sit with their legs straight out thats a sign that their knees are sore not their hips so I guess it doesnt sound very good Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.tendlife.com
